Key features
A year ago, the excellent DeepCool Assassin IV cooler was tested here and eventually took our top award. Today we take a closer look at a modified version of this cooler called Assassin 4S. This variant may have lost the rear fan, but the middle one has been completely redesigned to compensate for this loss. So today’s article logically aims to find out how much of an impact this major change has on efficiency and acoustics.
Conclusion and evaluation
After testing the DeepCool Assassin 4S cooler, I got some impression that it’s not only an assassin of high temperatures and excessive noise, but also of its predecessor named Assassin IV. The temperature difference between these coolers is indeed minimal, but acoustically the Assassin 4S is noticeably better and also costs about a fifth less, at least according to MSRP. Unfortunately, the prices in CZ/SK e-shops do not reflect this fact for some reason and both coolers cost similar money on our market.
In conclusion, we can say without any doubt that the DeepCool Assassin 4S is a top-notch cooler, which with its high efficiency is close to, for example, even the legend in the form of the first generation Noctua NH D15 cooler.
The acoustic performance can be criticized only in small details, the workmanship is at a high level and in a way I am also attracted by the typical minimalist-futuristic design of DeepCool, where there is only an inconspicuous cube in front of you without a visible fan. I have practically nothing to complain about here, and I would install the white variant of this cooler in my PC without any hesitation. DeepCool Assassin 4S is plain and simple “Top Notch!“.
