If you have been considering ATX 3.0 PSUs to be “too expensive”, then DeepCool will be looking to change your perspective on the matter. With models from the new PL-D series, which also includes lower-performance variants. Those, combined with 80 Plus Bronze, are priced quite low and can already be acquired, some might say, cheaply. This is at the price of lower efficiency (a compromise), but still maintaining key safety protections.<\/p>\n

New DeepCool PL-D PSUs with ATX 3.0 support (you can read in this thematic article<\/a> what it all means and changes compared to ATX 2.x), which are characterized by a lower price.<\/p>\n

The better affordability here (with the DeepCool PL-D) is mainly related to the use of cheaper components, with which the efficiency is achieved “only” at the level of the 80 Plus Bronze requirements. The efficiency should always be at least 85% (at very high loads, but on the contrary also at levels below 5%). None of the commonly used protections in more expensive models should be affected by the savings. Whether it is overload protection (OPP, OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP) or undervoltage protection (UVP), over temperature protection (OTP) and other protection (SCP, NLO, SIP). DeepCool PL-D PSUs also come with, completely fixed, non-removable cabling.<\/p>\n

There are four performance variants of DeepCool PSUs \u2013 550 W (PL550D<\/a>), 650 W (PL650D<\/a>), 750 W (PL750D<\/a>) and 800 W (PL800D<\/a>). All of them are equipped with a 12VHPWR cable for external power supply for GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards.<\/p>\n

But naturally, the PL550D mainly counts on lower-power graphics cards up to the RTX 4070 Ti Super<\/a>. Something like “up to 300W” will probably be printed on the cable, although the design of the cable itself is built for even higher current loads (DeepCool lists the gauge of the wires at 1.31 mm2<\/sup> \u2013 AWG 16), but the bottleneck here is the current-carrying capacity of the 12-volt rail. The latter, for example, is only capable for the RTX 4090<\/a> on the PL800D. Especially when it is expected that in addition to such a powerful graphics card there will also be a powerful processor (also powered from the 12 V rail).<\/p>\n

The suggested retail prices are 49 EUR (PL550D), 59 EUR (PL650D), 69 EUR (PL750D) and 79 EUR (PL800D). Such models, which are suitable for low-budget builds due to their price, are quite rare.<\/p>\n

We did some research back when we were looking for ATX 3.0 power supplies for testing. Back then, for example, the competing FSP Hexa 85+ Pro ATX3.0<\/a> was on the price lists, but out of stock. And its situation hasn’t changed much in the meantime. There are relatively few cheaper ATX 3.0 power supplies with 80 Plus Bronze and even fewer that are available in stores. There shouldn’t be a similar shortage of DeepCool PL-D PSUs.<\/p>\n
