It introduces the individual graphics chips Nvidia is using in the new cards, the new GDDR7 memory type, and also covers changes in cache memory, GPU compute units, updates to shaders and tensor cores, as well as improved compute units for ray tracing. The new generation of GeForce also brings support for new standards such as DisplayPort 2.1b and PCI Express 5.0.

With the new generation of cards, DLSS capabilities are evolving as well. It now supports Multi Frame Generation, which allows the generation of up to three intermediate frames, and introduces Nvidia Reflex 2, the second generation of its latency-reduction technology. This includes Frame Warp, which adjusts object and camera motion in rendered frames based on the player’s most recent input device movement data received just before the already rendered frame is displayed. A more detailed explanation can be found in the aforementioned article.

The specifications and suggested prices of the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti have already been presented in the recent articles. Here, we’ll just briefly summarize – the RTX 5060 Ti is equipped with the smallest chip so far based on the Blackwell architecture, designated GB206. It has a die size of 181 mm² and 21 billion transistors. The core contains 4608 stream processors, 144 texture mapping units, and 48 raster units, along with 36 RT cores and 144 tensor cores. The base clock speed of the GPU is 2407 MHz, with a boost of 2572 MHz, and the power limit is set at 180 W. It comes in variants with either 8 or 16 GB of GDDR7 memory, connected via a 128-bit bus. The memory speed is 28 Gb/s, and the total memory bandwidth is 448.0 GB/s.

The first to hit the market are the 16GB variants of the RTX 5060 Ti, while the trimmed-down 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti and the 8GB RTX 5060 are scheduled to go on sale a few days later. The reason Nvidia prefers reviews of the 16GB version is clear – in several memory-intensive games, 8GB cards suffer from performance drops at ultra settings due to insufficient memory. Precisely because these games can showcase the benefits of greater memory, they are overrepresented in benchmarks compared to their share of the gaming market and significantly influence the overall evaluation.

Memory also runs out on 8GB GeForce cards in some games when path tracing, DLSS, and frame generation are combined. However, frame generation combined with demanding ray tracing is exactly what Nvidia highlights as the main advantage over previous-generation GeForce cards – and if these features can’t be used, the generational leap isn’t as apparent.

Gainward GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Python III 16 GB

In this review, we’ll take a look at the base model from Gainward’s lineup – the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Python III with product code (P/N: NE7506T019T1-GB2061T).

The specified typical boost clock is the reference 2570 MHz, but actual clock speeds are usually higher and vary depending on load and GPU power consumption. In such a setup, the system has virtually unlimited access to cool ambient air from the surroundings, and the warm air from the graphics card is quickly expelled into the open air. Inside a case, however, the air volume is much smaller. Once components are installed, it becomes necessary to find a balance, tuning the cooling system so that system fans aren’t too noisy, while still ensuring sufficient airflow through the case. Powerful CPUs and GPUs produce a lot of heat, raising the temperature inside the case, and component temperatures are usually higher than under ideal open-bench conditions. This is why results for clocks, temperatures, and noise in such test setups tend to look better than what you’ll see with the same components inside a PC case.

That’s why graphics cards are tested inside a PC case. For this purpose I chose the Fractal Design Meshify 2, featuring one of the most common case layouts and cooling designs. I opted instead for a top-of-the-line air cooler, the Noctua NH-D15 G2 LBC in an offset mounting configuration, for two main reasons. First, it offers greater reliability and more predictable long-term cooling performance compared to liquid coolers. Second, it has a smaller impact on case airflow than an AIO.

When CPU load increases, speeding up the radiator fans on an AIO cooler can significantly change the airflow inside the case. With an air cooler, higher CPU fan speeds have much less impact on case airflow. The system fans are set to a fixed speed to maintain constant airflow, making it more suitable for comparing graphics cards under similar conditions.

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Our graphics card tests run on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. The same goes for the RTX 5060 Ti Python III, priced at a suggested 429 USD.

Fan behavior, noise level

The card is equipped with three small fans. Smaller blade surfaces mean they generate less aerodynamic noise at the same RPM compared to large fans. In terms of design, they fall into the more budget-friendly category, which becomes apparent in their uneven acoustic behavior at higher speeds.

Under low load, the card is passively cooled with the fans switched off. With manual control, you can set fan speed between 30–100%. At the minimum 30%, the fans spin at 1300 RPM and the sound level meter registers 32.6 dBA. At minimum RPMs, they’re quiet, though the bearings or motors aren’t entirely inaudible. However, under light load, this isn’t an issue as the fans remain off.

At full speed, the cooler hits around 3600 RPM and 60.4 dBA.

Under sustained load, the fans reach around 1850 RPM, with the sound level meter indicating about 39.8 dBA. In terms of noise, this is rather average. For a 180 W card, it’s not great, but considering this is an entry-level model expected to retail close to the MSRP, it’s not all that bad either.

Only when manually increasing the rear fan speed past 2200 RPM does something on the cooler begin to resonate, producing a fluctuating irregular tone. And even though its basic models can’t match the noise or temperature levels of pricier cards with coolers twice the size, they often hold their own against mid-range models. The same goes for the RTX 5060 Ti Python III, priced at a suggested 429 USD.

Final thoughts

Nvidia’s suggested price for the RTX 5060 Ti is 379 USD for the 8GB version and 429 USD for the 16GB version. But again, these are prices one can expect when the market situation is stable and card availability is good.

At the moment, it’s still possible to get cards for the MSRP, and this applies to the tested Gainward RTX 5060 Ti Python III 16G as well. Compared to premium RTX 5060 Ti models, it offers a significantly better price-to-performance ratio.

The 16GB RTX 5060 Ti is an attractive option for anyone who considers having memory headroom important. Until now, GeForce buyers in this price range had to choose between 8GB and 12GB models, with the 16GB RTX 4060 Ti typically being more expensive.

A strong competitor to the new RTX 5060 Ti in this regard is the older Radeon RX 7800 XT, which offers the same memory capacity and higher raw rasterization performance, while after recent price cuts, it’s only a few dozen dollars more. A cheaper alternative with less memory and somewhat lower performance, especially in ray tracing, is the 12GB Radeon RX 7700 XT. But the discount isn’t significant enough to clearly make it the more attractive choice.

However, how prices evolve from here will mostly depend on how long current stock levels last and what follows afterward.

Compared to RTX 40-series cards, the performance gains aren’t particularly substantial. The new RTX 5060 Ti only pulls ahead in scenarios involving demanding ray tracing combined with DLSS and the generation of two or three intermediate frames. Owners of RTX 40 cards therefore have little incentive to upgrade to the new GeForce lineup. Compared to older GeForce generations, however, the advantages are more significant.

Focusing more specifically on the RTX 5060 Ti Python III 16GB from Gainward, it follows the usual formula – low price was the priority during development, and the card’s simplified design reflects that. You won’t find any of the typical premium features like dual BIOS, colorful ARGB LED lighting, or a large heatsink that would allow for near-silent cooling at low fan speeds.

In most respects, it’s an average card that doesn’t outperform the more expensive RTX 5060 Ti models in anything other than price. Still, a card with average features offered at MSRP is not a bad deal at all. Performance differences compared to factory-overclocked models are negligible, and the price is often significantly better, which places these basic models among the most favorable options in terms of price/performance ratio. All that’s left is to hope the price doesn’t climb too much.

English translation and edit by Jozef Dudáš

Pros and Cons

+ 16 GB of memory
+ Among the most affordable GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB models
+ Price, better price/performance ratio compared to most RTX 5060 Ti cards
+ Cooler only takes up 2 slots
+ High performance for 1080p and 1440p gaming
+ Support for DLSS 4 and other proprietary Nvidia technologies
+ Significant ray tracing performance boost over the previous generation
+ Power consumption

– Only modest increase in raw performance compared to previous GeForce generation
– Power limit cannot be increased, limiting overclocking headroom
– Average noise level under load; cooler could be quieter considering the card’s power draw
– Slight performance drop on motherboards without PCIe 5.0 support due to eight PCIe lanes

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards can be purchased in the Datacomp e-store.

⠀
<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block;background-color:transparent"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-8150419924824893"
     data-ad-slot="6522017574"
     data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

While most manufacturers focus on more expensive models, Gainward also puts effort into graphics cards for customers who value performance per dollar over premium features.
