Winner of the giveaway
Until midnight yesterday, you had a chance to sign up for a giveaway to win the Celsius+ S28 Prisma liquid cooler. Thank you not only for your generous participation, but also for your nice comments. Based on your messages, quite remarkable statistics have been created about what cases and processors you own. For curious readers, we will also reveal this secret in the article. But of course, firstly the announcement of the winner.
It wasn’t that tricky. In the allotted time (by 5 August 2021), all you needed to do was write to our editorial e-mail that you could make use of the Fractal Design Celsius+ S28 Prisma cooler and to state which case and processor you had. Everyone whose case supported the attachment of 280-millimeter liquid coolers got their ticket. Nothing else was taken into account, not even whether your processor had adequate power draw to be cooled by this liquid cooler.
The information about the processor was supposed to create a kind of statistics of which processors our readers own. Of course, these are not completely relevant statistics, as not everyone participated, but 78.6% of the participants own an AMD processor. And mostly the last (Vermeer) or second to last (Matisse) generation of the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 classes.
More surprising than what processors you own is that 64.3% of participants own a Fractal Design case, usually of the Define Rx series. However, such a confession did not increase your odds to win, we just wanted to avoid complications with compatibility. These would occur in some situations, because the fact that a case supports the attachment of 140 mm fans in the upper position does not mean that a 280 mm liquid cooler is also supported. Although the mounting positions could be there, the thickness of the radiator must also be taken into account, i.e. in this case 52 mm in total. This is too much for most top panel positions and collisions with the motherboard or VRM heatsinks are likely. This is also the case with Peter’s Define R6, but in this case there is the possibility of installing a 280 mm radiator behind the front panel, where it will fit.
