The XT model of the Radeon RX 7600 does exist after all
When AMD released the Radeon RX 7600 as the cheapest RDNA 3 model, it was the only card without the “XT” designation. It uses fully enabled Navi 33 die configuration thoughs, so it invited the interpretation that a Radeon RX 7600 XT might not even exist. But as it turns out, such graphics card is indeed coming to market. There is also talk of other additions to the Radeon RX 7000 series, but it’s a muddier story with those.
As Harukaze5719 spotted on Twitter, Arktek, a smaller card manufacturer, entered its apparently yet-to-be-released graphics cards into the Russian EEC database, where unreleased hardware is often registered ahead of launch. Among these cards, three possible new graphics card models from AMD have appeared: Radeon RX 7600 XT, Radeon RX 7700 and Radeon RX 7800.
It looks like at least some of the registered “new” cards may not exist and the company has entered them into the database either “just in case” or as cover to hide real new products among. According to BenchLife who commented on this report, the Radeon RX 7700 and Radeon RX 7800 are not currently planned and AMD has not told card manufacturers about any cards like that – at least as far as BenchLife’s sources know.
Radeon RX 7600 XT in January, RDNA 4 in Q3 or Q4 2024
However, it is different with the last card. BenchLife reports that a Radeon RX 7600 XT model is indeed in the pipeline, and AMD is already working on it with card manufacturers (from whom this confirmation probably originated). There is actual information circulating behind the scenes about this card according to multiple sources – for example (but not limited to) VideoCardz. It looks like the release of this model is pretty close to a certain thing now, you can probably already count on it if you’re planning on picking up a graphics card of the price range in question in the future.
The release of this card is said to be scheduled for January, in its fourth week starting on Jan. 22, 2024. According to BenchLife, the Radeon RX 7600 XT will be the only such new release to be added to AMD’s lineup for the entire first half of 2024, there are no others planned right now. Although it probably can’t be ruled out that the company will hastily try to rush some “reactionary” SKUs to market if pushed to do so. Cards with RDNA 4 architecture and PCIe 5.0 support could reportedly appear in the second half of the year, but there’s probably no guarantee yet that they won’t be delayed and slip into 2025.
BenchLife found out one more thing – supposedly, it looks like this model might not be produced in a reference version with an AMD cooler, since AMD doesn’t provide any such cards as samples for reviewers. Only non-reference versions with various custom coolers designed by card manufacturers are likely going to be launched. These could probably often reuse coolers from existing Radeon RX 7600 or Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics cards (depending on which of the chips the card will be based on).
Specifications are not yet known. The Radeon RX 7600 XT should logically be a more powerful and more expensive card, slotted above today’s vanilla Radeon RX 7600. It could either use a Navi 33 chip with increased clock speeds (and TDP), which would mean 128-bit memory with 8GB of capacity (or 16 GB, in theory), 2048 RDNA 3 architecture shaders, and a PCIe 4.0×8 interface.
Or it could be a card using a cut down version of the Navi 32 chip (more cut down than in the 7700 XT card). Such a graphics could have somewhere between 2048–3072 shaders, 10GB or 12GB of memory on a 160-bit or 192-bit bus (and a PCIe 4.0 ×16 interface).
