I’m sure many of you have a good idea of how CPU coolers are made, but it’s still worth seeing exactly how it’s done. At least when it comes to BeQuiet! coolers. This German company has released materials on how their coolers are made in their factories. The SilentiumPC Spartan 5 cooler with the “Max” attribute differs from, say, the basic variant only by having twice as many heatpipes. So four instead of two. The other elements are the same, so naturally the question comes to how much the two added heatpipes, which the more expensive SPC cooler has in addition, will increase the cooling efficiency. How many generations of processors could the Freezer 7 cool? The most. No other brand of coolers has been around for so long. That’s worthy of respect, but the fact remains that the progression in efficiency is rapid from revision to revision. Predisposed to more demanding industrial conditions, Akasa OTTO fans go well beyond “normal” home computer use. Complete water and dust resistance, three-phase torque and, above all, a unique vibration elimination system. The effectiveness of the proven “S-Flow” rotor is high, but there is one thing Akasa has overdone a bit. That is, if the OTTO SF12 fan is really meant for system cooling. Deepcool has released a cooler that is closer to AMD’s chiplet processors than competing models with DHT bases. The outermost heatpipes are spaced farther apart from the ones in the middle. It could be designed so that they pass over the processor cores, i.e. on the outer edges of the chiplets. Akasa has been working for a long time on small and simple coolers to serve as a low-cost replacement for bundled solutions. This company was among the first to come out with support for Intel LGA 1700 and even with more options. Fresh news – The Poles are following up the Navis liquid coolers with two new models. These are coolers with 240-millimeter radiators that are now cooled by Fluctus fans. That is, the most efficient SilentiumPC has to offer. Unlike the previous generation (Navis Evo, which still doesn’t support Intel’s latest socket), you can install these on LGA 1700 for Alder Lake processors. Although it didn’t look like it at first, Akasa will sell the fan from the Alucia H4 cooler separately. We had it briefly in our wind tunnel and it definitely has the potential to succeed in the mid-range segment. Then there are the illuminated Soho AR and Vegas A fans based on it, which are also sold in unconventional “Siamese twins or triplets” variants with a common frame for two or three rotors. Along with a cooler release, Noctua has updated their roadmap, leaving no stone unturned. A lot of products are being pushed to a later date, including the upcoming 140 mm fans. But the good news is that at least fan grilles, which will surely appear in our tests sooner or later, have appeared out of the blue in the window for the coming months or maybe just weeks. Are the SSD heatsinks that come with motherboards not enough? For such situations, Thermalight now has alternative solutions that don’t seem to lack cooling performance even for SSDs supporting PCI Express 5.0. One fan after another is changed on the Mugen 5’s heatsink. It wasn’t that long ago that we wrote a report on the “S” variant (with the Wonder Snail 120 fan), which supports the Intel LGA 1700 platform. And there really are a lot of variants that differ mainly by the fan. But this latest one, also referred to as revision C, might be the most efficient. SilentiumPC timed the new generation of Spartan coolers well, just before the release of the entire line of AMD Ryzen processors with TDP up to 65 W, and you can also use them now to cool similarly low-power Alder Lakes from Intel. And that’s probably with some headroom for lower speeds. The 120-millimeter fan is already used by the base model Spartan 5, which starts at a price of less than 16 EUR, which is less than 400 CZK. As you know, the airflow of fans depends on the area of their blades. The larger the area, the better the fan is able to achieve higher efficiency. However, you can’t push it indefinitely, and maximum dimensions are limited by both heatsinks and PC cases. However, SilverStone has now come up with a fan that has the same hole spacing as the standard 140mm models, only with a larger cross-section compared to them.
