Asus Dual RTX 4070 12G or RTX 3080 cease to make sense

Overall gaming performance and performance per euro

GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards fill a large gap between the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4060 Ti, and in terms of speed or gaming performance, they hover around the RTX 3080. But that’s with many advantages, including half the power draw with the RTX 4070. With cheaper designs, such as the tested Asus Dual variant, the price/performance ratio is also more attractive with the RTX 4070 (compared to discount RTX 3080s).

Overall gaming performance

We calculate the average performance so that each game has an equal weight on the result. You can find out exactly how we arrive at the result in this article.

Disclaimer: The charts below present averages from games with settings where only the graphics generated by rasterization appear. This selection was originally intended to allow the inclusion of graphics cards without ray-tracing support. However, it is also reasonable to consider speed with ray-tracing graphics as well. Therefore, prospectively, we will incorporate additional sets of charts into the tests, where one will also take into account graphics details with ray tracing and the other will be exclusively for gaming setups under DXR with RT.

Výkon za euro

Disclaimer: To calculate the coefficient, we use the suggested prices that the graphics cards had at the time of launch. Thus, given the current situation, the ratios may not always be accurate, on the contrary, they will often be quite inaccurate (not reflecting the current situation), because the market value of older models naturally decreases over time until they eventually stop selling. In order to make the design of these charts sustainable (also in terms of the passage of time), we have decided to always start from an initial price that we no longer change according to later developments in stores.

First look at B850 boards. ROG Strix and Aorus Elite WiFi7

New B850 motherboards have been released for AMD Ryzen 9000 (and possibly 7000) processors, promising lower prices (compared to X870/E motherboards). Not much was known about the specific models until the last minute. But now we’ll take a look at two, one from Asus and the other from Gigabyte, which we’ll also take a look at in detailed tests later on. So for now, just a little preview. ROG Strix Z890-F Gaming WiFi. Asus’s take on LGA 1851

We are expanding our motherboard tests with the Asus ROG Strix Z890-F Gaming WiFi. This one is priced between the Gigabyte (Z890 Aorus Elite WiFi7) and MSI (MPG Z890 Carbon WiFi) models, which we’ve already analyzed in depth. This is also a board designed for Intel Core 200S CPUs (Arrow Lake). More towards the more powerful CPU classes, as the tested ROG Strix Z890-F Gaming WiFi has a robust VRM, among other things. Asus NitroPath: Improved DIMM slots boost RAM speed by 400 MHz

New X870E motherboards for AMD processors and Z890 boards for the new Intel Core Ultra 200S processors are now coming to the market. There will be one new feature on Asus boards that is supposed to improve the performance of RAM. It’s a new DIMM slot design that may not look any different on the outside, but has improvements that should allow DDR5 to overclock to higher clock speeds with better signal quality for more stable operation.
