BeQuiet!: (Semi)passive cooling mode for PSUs now available

BeQuiet! also enriched Computex 2025 with its presence. Lots of new things – cases, coolers and… did you know that the latest BeQuiet! power supplies now feature a passive fan mode? A feature previously unavailable in the brand’s PSUs is slowly entering the market. Users asked, users received. You can also look forward to the new Pure Loop 3 coolers, coming sooner than you think.

You’ll hear it everywhere: BeQuiet! PSUs don’t turn their fans off. They do – at least in the latest models. Among those already available is the Power Zone 2. All of its variants feature a semi-passive cooling mode, and the new, yet unreleased Pure Power 13 M units will follow in their footsteps.

This shift stems from BeQuiet!’s own belief that the majority of users won’t notice the difference between their fans running at very low speeds and being completely off (i.e., passive cooling). But there’s one clear reason why active cooling makes sense—it prevents dust from entering the PSU and settling on components, which is obviously undesirable. Mainly for this reason, BeQuiet! gave the green light, and both Power Zone 2 and Pure Power 13 M units now support semi-passive cooling. The new Pure Power 13 M PSU, by the way, will conform to the ATX 3.1 standard and carry a “Gold” (80 Plus Gold) efficiency certification. Compared to the “Platinum” Power Zone 13 M, this will also mean a lower price. The highest wattage version of the Pure Power 13 M will offer 1000 W, while the lowest will start at 550 W. In between will be two more models with outputs of 650 W and 750 W.

It won’t be long before BeQuiet! announces and releases the new Pure Loop 3 liquid coolers. These will represent a “budget” option in their lineup, and there will be multiple versions, with or without lighting. Performance will still be strong, as the line will scale up to 360-millimeter radiators cooled by three fans. These are the Pure Wings 3 (ARGB), which, in terms of cooling efficiency, perform exceptionally well on radiators.

The illuminated variants will deliver not only high cooling performance, but also fully lit fan blades. They could become a possible alternative to the Light Loop coolers. So stay tuned for pricing and cooling performance results. Then you’ll be able to decide which option makes more sense for you.

BeQuiet! is also working on a case with a base stand – a wooden base stand. Yes, this material is becoming “trendy.” And why the stand? It enables a completely atypical orientation where external connectors are aligned horizontally with the surface of the desk or the floor – whichever you prefer.

In other words, cables run from underneath, which requires a certain clearance. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be feasible. And to make it feasible, there’s this wooden base stand from BeQuiet!, which also includes a dedicated cutout for routing cables where needed. For example, to the electrical outlet (in the case of the power cable). The case is glass-paneled on two sides (top and side), offering a view of its interior. Whether this unconventional concept will catch on, as always, will be decided by the market.

We also stopped by the Pure Base 501 Airflow (Window) cases, where several variants were on display. One of them will soon undergo a detailed review.

BeQuiet! is also venturing into peripherals. At the exhibition, a pre-production sample of a keyboard was available for viewing (and testing), which can definitely be labeled as premium. We have no pricing information yet, but it certainly won’t be cheap.

See you again next year, Taipei! 🙂

Aimed at lower temperatures. BeQuiet! Pure Base 501 Airflow

A simple, yet “effective” case. That’s one way you could title an article analyzing the BeQuiet! Pure Base 501 Airflow (BG074). The test model features solid metal panels on both sides – non-transparent – each lined with sound-dampening material. Foam. In short, you’re dealing with a design rooted in the old school, something increasingly rare these days. Despite that, the purchase price of this case remains relatively low, close to the ground.
