CPU coolers Deepcool AK now also available in black

Deepcool’s latest line of tower coolers (AK) kicked off a year ago with the twin-tower AK620, which was later gradually followed by the smaller AK400 and AK500 models. There are more of these “AK” coolers now and for those users who don’t like the grey fins, Deepcool has an alternative. The coolers with the Zero Dark designation will soon be available in a black coated version. Read more “CPU coolers Deepcool AK now also available in black” »

Paste on AM5 won’t get where it doesn’t belong – Noctua NA-TPG1

The large number of creases on the heat spreader of CPUs for the AMD AM5 platform means a lot of places where thermal paste can run off and dry out. Removing it is then very laborious when cleaning, which is why Noctua has released a frame to protect these critical spots. And it will also protect the exposed SMD next to the heat spreader from paste or possibly liquid metals. Read more “Paste on AM5 won’t get where it doesn’t belong – Noctua NA-TPG1” »

We have a list of BeQuiet! coolers with AMD AM5 support

BeQuiet! has released an official statement on which of their coolers support the new AMD platform with the AM5/LGA 1718 socket. Physically, almost all models can be installed, but still make sure you don’t happen to have the one that can’t. It’s also good to know that for full compatibility, the right spacing of holes is not enough, but also the right cooling performance. Only two coolers are recommended by BeQuiet! for the Ryzen 9 processors. Read more “We have a list of BeQuiet! coolers with AMD AM5 support” »

Thermaltake TG-60 is a new, hopefully more available liquid metal

The choice of liquid metals is rather limited. And even the few options, that are designed for application in PCs, have fairly poor distribution. This could be changed/improved by the involvement of Thermaltake, which after all has a wider field of operation than the above mentioned companies. Their solution (TG-60) is a replacement for conventional pastes, but with significantly higher thermal conductivity. Read more “Thermaltake TG-60 is a new, hopefully more available liquid metal” »

Raptor Lake is here: high speed with 7 Ultra node, no price hike

This week, AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and AM5 platform went on sale (we’ve already tested the 7900X). Intel will counter with their own new generation next month: the 13th generation Core “Raptor Lake”, which was unveiled on the same day, albeit with no physical availability yet. We now have definitive specs, as well as pricing. You’ll be pleased to know that most SKUs have not gotten more expensive, even though that was rumored. What RTX 4090 lacks: Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada is almost the full AD102

On Tuesday, Nvidia unveiled the first GeForce RTX 4000 GPUs with Ada Lovelace architecture. The fastest RTX 4090 SKU is based on the AD102 chip, but it’s already been confirmed that it’s a stripped-down version with 16,384 shaders, while the full chip has over 18,000 FP32 units. But Nvidia already has a card that has almost all of the units unlocked: the Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada, a GPU aimed at professional graphics and similar markets. Deepcool (AK500) goes for 1-kilo heatsink with one fan

Deepcool’s new CPU cooler is one of the biggest options that doesn’t collide with memory. Compared to most single tower coolers, the AK500 is significantly wider, but at the same time it doesn’t exceed dual tower heatsinks with often comparable finned area. It is true that it has one less fan compared to them, but again, one that promises high static pressure and therefore less airflow loss due to the heatsink. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 cards are here: models, parameters, prices

Nvidia had their GTC 2022 keynote scheduled for Tuesday. As expected, company CEO Jen-Hsun Huang finally unveiled new gaming  graphics cards at this presentation alongside various enterprise, AI, and automotive stuff: the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 with the new Ada Lovelace architecture. They’ll come to market in the next two months, however we don’t exactly have good news on the prices Nvidia will charge for them. End of an era: Intel to stop making Celeron and Pentium CPU

Yesterday we shared the news that EVGA is ending production of GeForce graphics with Nvidia GPUs after more than twenty years. Another “end of an era” moment has however happened virtually at the same time. Intel has announced that it will do away with the historic Pentium and Celeron processor brands that have survived since the 20th century. This is as part of image and branding changes the company is now planning for next year. Read more “End of an era: Intel to stop making Celeron and Pentium CPU” »

Zen 4 has a thermal boost, too. 5.85 GHz only at sub 50 °C temps

It is often commented on that Intel processors (like the upcoming Raptor Lake) have many different boost modes with various conditions, for example the temperature-dependent Thermal Velocity Boost. But it turns out that the Ryzen 7000s have something similar. According to unofficial information the top Ryzen 9 7950X model will also reach its maximum frequency only at low temperatures – impractically low, even. Cheaper Raptor Lake CPU will be just rebadged Alder Lake chips

Yesterday we reported that Raptor Lake processors are largely a continuation of the Alder Lake generation using the same ingredients, despite a large increase in achieved clock speeds and some architectural changes (cache). This is even more true than we thought. It turns out that only the higher-tier K-series models are actually new chips. The lower end, including all 65W Core i5s, are recycling silicon from the Alder Lake generation. Read more “Cheaper Raptor Lake CPU will be just rebadged Alder Lake chips” »

The new Aeolus (M3) Gamdias has BeQuiet! features but only half

Although Gamdias is not one of the brands that are characterized by fans, it has a few of them to its name. However, there are some changes from one generation to the next, with which it obviously wants to achieve higher efficiency, higher airflow at the same noise level. It is therefore commendable that, in addition to the aesthetic additions, the development of the Aoelus M3 ARGB fan has placed particular emphasis on aerodynamic properties. 5 years of HWCooling: Expertly, fairly, correctly

At first it looked like we would only last a few months, but miraculously we have weathered the most critical period and the HWC is beginning to write its sixth year. However, any “celebrations” are premature for now… Anyway, some history that might be interesting to you is already here. In a short retrospective article with future perspectives, we’ll take a look at what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what still needs to happen for us to continue to be here for you. Intel Arc A770, A750, A580 desktop graphics officially unveiled

The coming of Intel Arc discrete graphics cards was strange – the company tried to keep up the audience excited with constant stream of news, but the efforts were thwarted by the long delays. But the long and slow, gradual trickle of all sorts of news bits is almost over. Finally, Intel has unveiled the gaming graphics cards with their most powerful GPU yet, up to 16 GB of memory and 4096 shaders. So now we’ll see what’s what. Deepcool launches the CH510 (WH). Useful cases for the masses?

Minimalist appearance, maximalist support for cooling components. In this spirit, Deepcool releases the new CH510 and CH510 WH (with white finish) computer cases. They are priced well under a hundred euros, and although they don’t stand out with any eccentric features (and the port selection is relatively modest as well), they are definitely an option to consider for mid-range builds.
