FD Aspect 14 RGB PWM: Larger rotor, higher airflow per dBA

Results: Static pressure, efficiency by orientation

Starting with the Fractal Design Aspect 14 RGB PWM test, we are starting to build a database of 140mm fan results. These may have a smaller market presence due to poorer compatibility, but compared to the 120mm models they have the makings of higher efficiency, which is why they are more popular among many users. The Aspect 14 RGB PWM fan, in addition to its aerodynamic qualities, also fights for customer favour with its lighting.

Results: Static pressure, efficiency by orientation

Explanatory note: Depending on the impeller orientation, different static pressures may be achieved. Within these graphs we observe the ratio between the “pull” and “push” positions, this gives us a sort of coefficient. If its value is above 1.00, it means that the fan exerts a higher static pressure when pulling. If the value is below 1.00, the opposite is true. Sometimes, however, this ratio is overall balanced.

Some articles become obsolete faster, others are relevant for a long time. Such, more durable ones usually do not focus on a specific product, but on a topic as a whole, with a pinch of generality. Articles like this have always been given space around here, since the beginning of HWCooling, and it probably doesn’t hurt to bring them up again. Noctua NF-A14x25r on a radiator. Tested with DIY frame

Due to the atypical spacing of the mounting holes for its format, the new Noctua NF-A14x25r G2 PWM fans cannot be installed in 140mm positions as standard. You need a conversion frame for that, and one such frame was designed, made and sent to us by an HWCooling reader.
