Our website got an update: Here’s what to do if something seems off

We’ve upgraded our website to a new version of the content management system (WordPress 6.x). Upgrading to the new version should bring better responsiveness, fix some bugs, and result in faster page loading. As part of the upgrade, we updated the existing templates, so some parts of the website may not display correctly. In most cases, these issues are caused by outdated cached data in your browser and can be resolved by clearing your cache.

The most common cause is data stored in the cache or cookies in your browser. If you encounter problems with page display or specific elements, you can try the following steps:

1) Hard Refresh the Page

  • Windows / Linux: Ctrl + F5
  • macOS: Cmd + Shift + R
  • Mobile browser: Tap ↻ or pull down the page until the loading spinner appears.

If this works, you’re all set.

2) Clear the Cache

If you want to clear data just for hwcooling.net, in Chrome/Edge/Brave click the lock icon to the left of the address bar and select Cookies and site data. Select the site adress and click recycle bin or Remove, or in Firefox click the information (i) button → Clear cookies and site data. On Safari (iOS/macOS), go to SettingsSafariAdvanced → Website Data, find hwcooling.net, and tap Delete.

A more aggressive method is to clear all cached data from all visited sites. This will not remove saved passwords or bookmarks.

Computer

  • Chrome / Edge / Brave: Ctrl + Shift + Del → “Cached images and files” → Clear.
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + Del → “Cache” → OK.
  • Safari (macOS): Safari ▸ Preferences ▸ Advanced ▸ check Show Develop menu, then Develop ▸ Empty Caches.

Mobile

  • Chrome (Android): Menu ⋮ → HistoryClear browsing data → “Cached images and files”.
  • Safari (iOS): SettingsSafariClear History and Website Data.

3) Clear Cookies (Last Resort)

⚠️ This will log you out of some websites and delete local preferences, so we recommend trying steps 1–2 first.

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.

  2. Navigate to Settings.

  3. In the left sidebar, select Privacy and security.

  4. Click on Delete browsing data.

  5. In the dialog box that appears:

    • Set the Time range to All time.

    • Check the box for Cookies and other site data.

    • Optionally, check Cached images and files if you wish to clear cached data as well.

  6. Click Delete data

Edge

  • Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  • In the left sidebar, choose Privacy, search, and services.

  • Under the Clear browsing data section, click Choose what to clear.

  • In the dialog that appears:

    • Set the Time range to All time.

    • Check the box for Cookies and other site data.

    • Optionally, check other boxes like Cached images and files if you wish to clear additional data.

  • Click Clear now.

If the problem persists even after following these steps, please let us know. We will take a closer look.

4) If Nothing Helps

If the problem still isn’t resolved after these steps, please contact us. Leave a comment under the article or email us at info@hwcooling.net.

A screenshot and the browser type/version will help us diagnose the issue.

Thank you for your understanding. We believe our website will now run a bit faster and more reliably for you.

Join the HWCooling team! We’re looking for a news report writer

Fans, coolers, cases. These are the primary topics for which we’re looking for someone active—someone who follows the news and enjoys informing others about it in a punchy yet information-rich way. The basics are therefore clear, and if reliability—specifically meeting deadlines—is added to that, then it’s exactly what we’re interested in. If you see yourself in this, get in touch and maybe we’ll come up with something together. Read more “Join the HWCooling team! We’re looking for a news report writer” »

Project cancellations: Fan encyclopedia scrapped

There are a few things we’ve previously said were in the works at HWCooling that, in the end, are unlikely to materialize. This isn’t anything dramatic, nor something we promised in a way that would harm anyone, but at least looking ahead, it’s unrealistic that we would not only complete some projects, but even have the space to properly start working on them. Let’s go through them one by one. Read more “Project cancellations: Fan encyclopedia scrapped” »
