Philips OLED 807 test with Play-Fi external speaker

Image properties

Philips offers up to four different OLED models, and after the second highest (907), the cheaper model numbered 807 has made its way to us. However, to avoid repeating the same test over and over again, this time we’ll also focus on DTS Play-Fi technology, using the TAW6205 wireless speaker. Thanks to its WiFi connection, it has several advantages over conventional speakers. This will be discussed as well.

We tested the display properties using the Datacolor Spyder5Elite calibration tool. The display has a 65″ (165 cm) OLED panel with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3840 × 2160 px. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz. Among other parameters, the manufacturer indicates 99% DCI-P3 coverage, support for G-Sync and FreeSync Premium, and it is also worth to mention support for multiple HDR formats, namely HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ adaptive, UHDA, Dolby Vision and HLG.

We compared the image quality in Crystal Clear mode at the maximum brightness setting. We measured 100% sRGB, 90% AdobeRGB, 100% DCI-P3 and 88% NTSC coverages, which are virtually identical to the OLED+907. The maximum brightness when displaying 100% of the window in SDR was 205 nits, which is less than the 248 measured with the higher model. Gamma and Delta E average color deviation didn’t exactly show the best values, which generally don’t excel in TVs, and the situation is similar here.
