Your CPU is Rocket Lake or older? Write us for a 400W cooler

We’d be happy to give someone, whom it will help, an unconventional Zalman liquid cooler. The Reserator 3 Max Dual will definitely have a nice collector’s value someday, but it will have to wait for retirement. It may not support the latest platforms anymore, but it is still well equipped to run in many PCs with relevant performance for today. And it has the cooling performance to handle very high power Core i9-class processors as well.

The prize

The main and only prize is the Zalman Reserator 3 Max Dual – a CPU cooler with two fans, each of which cools one fan-shaped radiator. These are joined together by a system of tubes twisted into smaller and larger circles through which the liquid circulate. Meanwhile, the fins of this unique liquid cooler are copper, which is rare among this kind of coolers.

The only thing it can’t compete with current models in is support. This ended even before the AMD AM4 platform, which is no longer supported. The latest AMD compatible processors are for the AMD AM3 platform.

There is more potential for Intel processors, which are supported up to the Rocket Lake generation, or the Intel LGA 1200 platform. The latter is officially unsupported, but compared to the supported LGA 1151 platform on LGA 1200 there are no physical changes to the mounting system and the processors themselves are just as tall, so you can safely mount the Reserator 3 Max Dual on an Intel Core i9-11900K with no power limits. Zalman quoted a TDP of up to 400W for this cooler.

How to enter

It’s very easy to enter the competition for the cooler. Just send us an email to info@hwcooling.net with the subject I am interested in the Zalman Reserator 3 Max Dual cooler and specify which processor you would like to use the cooler for, and maybe elaborate a bit on whether you are still planning to buy the processor it should cool, or you already have one (and you can add with what you are cooling it with now). The specific situation won’t affect your chances of winning, but the goal is to get someone to give this cooler a second chance and actually use it.

You can send your messages until March 30, 2023 (23:59 CEST). The winner will be determined by a random draw and we will add at the end of this article (31 March 2023) to whom we will send the cooler in April. So, who’s up for it?

Competition result: The winner is Tomáš O. with an email address at gmail.com. They will use the cooler on an Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 processor, which will be in a game server with constant operation. We’re glad that even a cooler like the Zalman Reserator 3 Max Dual will still be useful and won’t end up in a dump just yet.

Regular, monthly riddles will continue into 2026 as well. This time connected with the DeepCool brand. Their product portfolio is very close to our focus, which makes the search for what you see in the photo details all the more interesting. At the end of the year, we will evaluate everything and see the results. For now, however, it is time to solve the first January challenge. And as with the others, the most successful solvers will be rewarded. Read more “DeepCool Riddle (1/2026). Can you guess what’s in the photo?” »
