The well-established coolers from the AK series are gaining new features. These are primarily a wooden top cover or displays located on the top of these CPU coolers. And there is a whole range of AK G2 coolers, from narrower single-tower models up to dual-tower ones. Lower price, better compatibility (typically with RAM), but lower cooling performance OR higher price, worse compatibility, and higher TDP. This comes with different “roof” variants.
So let’s take it step by step, starting with the AK coolers with a wooden top. This is essentially the plan represented by the final fin. The lowest model of such a cooler (with wooden elements) is the AK400 G2. It is characterized by a single tower with four heat pipes, and this heatsink is cooled by one 120 mm fan. It is intended for mid-range AMD and Intel processors at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 40 EUR.
The middle model of the trio is designated AK500 G2, which is more expensive (50 EUR) and the most powerful in this series, with two towers (and two fans), is the AK620 G2 model. This one shouldn’t limit even the most powerful current processors much. Its price (70 EUR) still remains low, especially compared to often significantly more expensive AIO liquid coolers. These coolers are tower-type, and although there is some surcharge for the wooden decorations, it’s nothing dramatic that would make the cooler overly expensive on the retail market. This is judging by the prices of the “basic” AK coolers (400, 500, and 620) without the added value of an unconventional top section finish.
All coolers, by the way, are also available in a completely white version (with a white heatsink and fan). These carry the suffix “WH” (White) and the manufacturer’s suggested prices are the same as for the black variants.
The NYX Digital coolers seem, for now, to be only black, and their characteristic feature is a segmented display. This connects to the motherboard for communication via an internal USB 2.0 header. This method is used to collect (and subsequently display) data about the CPU’s current temperature, utilization, power consumption, or clock speeds. These parameters are naturally evaluated by the DeepCool service application.
Unlike the previous generation, which also has a display, this one is supposed to deliver higher cooling performance for more efficient heat dissipation. This is achieved simultaneously with smaller dimensions. The variants with a display are more expensive than the “wooden” ones, where the MSRP for the lowest-end model (AK400 G2 Digital NYX) is 50 EUR, for the higher-end one (AK500 G2 Digital NYX) 60 EUR, and for the highest-end one (AK620 G2 Digital NYX) then 75 EUR.
