HWCooling Techtour 2024 (SOŠE Liptovský Hrádok)
The last stop of this year’s HWCooling Techtour. It was different, but still energetic, professional and enriching for students. In Liptovský Hrádok, we found out the “overall winner” of the skills competition and managed to do other things that we hadn’t quite done before. Third time’s the charm? Definitely. The students were (again) very active, curious and overall well prepared.
The road to Liptovský Hrádok was mostly slow and along our route (from Žilina, following the route of the HWCooling team) it was characterized by many villages, various curves and in places some of the narrowest two-way roads in our state. But the result was worth it. For example, it was only to Liptovský Hrádok that Ricky Huang graced us with his visit. His talk certainly kicked off the lectures in the dark halls of the school the right way. It was not only the “poorly” dressed participants who got the chills.
Liptovský Hrádok was also in the spirit of the most monumental projection. The large diagonal screen and the experience of the event were not spoiled even by the sun’s rays due to the good blackout of the windows. The picture was sufficiently bright and contrasty. During the lectures, the students of SOŠE Liptovský Hrádok, among other things, also learned a lot of new knowledge about the manufacturing of motherboards and processors.
The electrifying atmosphere here was also co-created by the students themselves with their activity. They actively answered questions and asked them as well. The reason we were doing all this worked great, and the high interest in technical issues in the field of computer hardware was later reflected in the act of installation of a cooler on a motherboard. In this activity, a student from this school got the shortest time out of all the schools we visited. (In the order of Secondary Vocational School of Electrical Engineering Žilina, Secondary Industrial Technical School and Secondary Vocational School of Electrical Engineering Liptovský Hrádok).
This was the first time that the cooler and motherboard for this activity were won by a student other than the one who was the most active in the knowledge part. So in Liptovský Hrádok we had two winners. One took home the Intel Core Ultra 5 245K processor and then the other took the Aorus Waterforce II 360I cooler and the Z890 Aorus Elite WiFi7 Ice motherboard.
The winner of the installation contest succeeded in a record time, within which the installation was completed in 11 minutes and 2 seconds. This was the shortest time in all the schools.
The remaining two competitors in Liptovský Hrádok were already slower (17–18 minutes), even compared to all competitors at SPŠT Martin, but at SOŠE Žilina both of them would have won. That is, in theory. There is, of course, a certain bias here at the level of the assembly stations themselves, but also in the atmosphere of the moment. This has been a little bit different each time, somewhere the stress may have weighed on the students less, somewhere more. In any case, the air in Liptovský Hrádok was very pleasant.
Good mood and great reception prevailed in all schools. We can conclude that all of them are inclined to the flourishing of vocational training in the field around computer hardware. SOŠE Liptovský Hrádok even runs a beautiful museum in a separate building, filled with valuable historical exhibits. What do you say?
…you could probably spend more than one night in a place like this. 🙂
We would like to thank the following companies for their cooperation in the events: Intel, Gigabyte (Aorus), Datacomp, Axagon, Sony, Jama Levova, I See IT and Kingston
