Intel’s entry into gaming GPU market currently held by just Nvidia and AMD has been long awaited. Intel took its first step with Arc GPUs in late March, but only with low-end mobile models so far. But the three-way competition could start as soon as this month with the arrival of regular Arc graphics cards in desktop PCs. Radeons RX 7000 to support PCIe 5.0, will get HW AV1 encoder

While so far unconfirmed, reports have surfaced that the next generation of gaming GPUs in Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4000 “Lovelace” will not yet support PCI Express 5.0 connectivity and will stay at 4.0 with half the lane speed. But it seems that PCIe 5.0 could be coming for the competition. This is hinted at in the code adding support for these GPUs to Linux, which also gave some other hints of the features of the RDNA 3 graphics. Intel Meteor Lake already boots Windows. Launch pushed forward?

Late last week, Intel released Q1 financial results. In addition to sales, profits and margins numbers (which were noteably down), the company also announced news more technical in nature. The company already has the first functional CPUs manufactured using the 4nm “Intel 4” node, the 14th generation Core “Meteor Lake” chiplet design processors. Next year’s Ryzen 7000 APUs will have RDNA 3 GPUs

This fall, AMD is releasing a new generation of graphics cards (Radeon RX 7000) and Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” desktop processors with Zen 4 cores. However, this architecture should also be adopted quite quickly by Ryzen 7000 “Phoenix” APU processors for laptops. Deepcool has released a cooler that is closer to AMD’s chiplet processors than competing models with DHT bases. The outermost heatpipes are spaced farther apart from the ones in the middle. It could be designed so that they pass over the processor cores, i.e. on the outer edges of the chiplets. Zen 4: SP5 socket and 5nm AMD Epyc with 12 CPU dies pictured

Recently, the first test or sighting of a sample of AMD’s 5nm processor with the new Zen 4 architecture appeared on the Internet. Now we also have the first photo. Noctua plans changes: surprise fan grilles, delays of key products
