Akasa 77 W cooler (AK-CC6603EP01) test for Intel LGA 1700

Akasa has been working for a long time on small and simple coolers to serve as a low-cost replacement for bundled solutions. This company was among the first to come out with support for Intel LGA 1700 and even with more options. In this test, we’ll be checking out the AK-CC6603EP01 mid-range model, which takes on not only the competing Arctic Alpine CO, but also both Intel Laminar coolers (RM1 and RS1). Navis F240 (ARGB) are the new SilentiumPC liquid coolers

Fresh news – The Poles are following up the Navis liquid coolers with two new models. These are coolers with 240-millimeter radiators that are now cooled by Fluctus fans. That is, the most efficient SilentiumPC has to offer. Unlike the previous generation (Navis Evo, which still doesn’t support Intel’s latest socket), you can install these on LGA 1700 for Alder Lake processors. AMD Ryzen 7 5700X: A much more efficient CPU than the 5800X

At the eleventh hour, but still. The long-awaited Ryzen 7 5700X is here. However, we won’t be writing about the successor to the Ryzen 7 3700X as a significantly cheaper alternative to the Ryzen 7 5800X. The new octa-core Ryzen 7 5700X is primarily more economical compared to the higher-end model. Its power draw is just half in some tasks, which means that temperatures are also significantly lower. Zen 4 will also offer a 3D V-Cache gamer special, but only in 2023

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D, AMD’s new processor aimed specifically at gaming is now on sale. Based on the reviews, it seems that the 96MB 3D V-Cache it touts really helps in games significantly. This is the final CPU on the AM4 platform, still with the Zen 3 architecture, so many people are probably torn, eyeing Zen 4 instead. For those, there’s good news: Zen 4 with 3D V-Cache is also in the works, but it will take tame to arrive. Read more “Zen 4 will also offer a 3D V-Cache gamer special, but only in 2023” »

Among the new Akasa fans is also the dangerous Alucia SC

Although it didn’t look like it at first, Akasa will sell the fan from the Alucia H4 cooler separately. We had it briefly in our wind tunnel and it definitely has the potential to succeed in the mid-range segment. Then there are the illuminated Soho AR and Vegas A fans based on it, which are also sold in unconventional “Siamese twins or triplets” variants with a common frame for two or three rotors. Even Intel’s weakest box cooler (Laminar RS1) isn’t trash

We didn’t cover the Pentium G7400’s cooler in our tests, but we’ll fix that now. The Laminar RS1 also comes with the Celeron G6900, another economical processor whose demands are far exceeded by the box cooler. Also in this class there is an efficiency gain over the last generation, and the Laminar RS1 is more efficient than its predecessor with a copper core at the same noise level, which deserves increased attention. Even cheaper new RDNA 2 model, AMD is preparing Radeon RX 6300

The cheapest graphics card segment has been pretty dry in recent years, typically offering ancient GPUs like GeForce GT 1030 or Radeon RX 550 (2016 architectures) or even GeForce GT 710 (a decade old Kepler architecture). A more modern, 7nm chip could now be dropped into the pool of affordable or at least affordablish cards by AMD. It is reportedly preparing a Radeon RX 6300 model that would have the RDNA 2 architecture. Read more “Even cheaper new RDNA 2 model, AMD is preparing Radeon RX 6300” »

SilentiumPC Spartan 5: This much power is often all you need

Buying powerful coolers for CPUs with power draw below 100 W is throwing money out the window. This is proved by the test results of the inexpensive new SilentiumPC cooler – Spartan 5. Considering the price, this cooler is sovereignly the best choice for most AMD Ryzen and Intel Alder Lake processors without an open multiplier. That it will be better to pay more for the Fera 5? Incorrect theory, and even here, less is sometimes more. Read more “SilentiumPC Spartan 5: This much power is often all you need” »

Zen 4: SP5 socket and 5nm AMD Epyc with 12 CPU dies pictured

Recently, the first test or sighting of a sample of AMD’s 5nm processor with the new Zen 4 architecture appeared on the Internet. Now we also have the first photo. And not only the processor, but also the silicon – a delidded 96-core Epyc 7004 “Genoa” has made it to the Internet. We have a proof that Zen 4 uses CPU chiplets with eight cores and there will be a whole 12 of them and under the IHS of the processor. Surprise in HEDT CPUs? Intel reportedly preparing Alder Lake-X

Intel is expected to release a new platform of high-end processors based on the Sapphire Rapids Xeons server CPUs this fall. It would thus once again return to an area it had essentially abandoned with the decline of the X299 platform and its high-end processors. But strangely enough, a report has now surfaced that Intel is preparing surprise high-end CPUs, never known until now: something called Alder Lake-X. Read more “Surprise in HEDT CPUs? Intel reportedly preparing Alder Lake-X” »

BIOS bugs inflate Pentium G7400’s power draw by up to 100 %

Manufacturers don’t bother too much with tuning BIOSes for cheaper processors. As a result of mishandled power management, the processor may have an inadequately high power draw in the default settings. In addition, there is poor cooling and lower performance than there should be. However, this is not a thing you can’t fix, you just need to know where, what and how to adjust. You’ll learn that too from this article. Read more “BIOS bugs inflate Pentium G7400’s power draw by up to 100 %” »

The LGA 1700 kit is now included with almost all BeQuiet coolers!

Intel’s new platform (LGA 1700) has been supported by BeQuiet! coolers for a long time, but it started out on an additional accessory basis. While you could request this for free, it’s extra hassle. However, that is no longer the case with most of the company’s coolers, as the Intel LGA 1700 mounting kit has become standard. And it will soon be added in the packages where it is missing for now, too. Read more “The LGA 1700 kit is now included with almost all BeQuiet coolers!” »

Noctua NH-L9i-17xx: Only 37 mm tall and 65 W in silence

Very low profile, high cooling performance and Intel LGA 1700 support. These are demanding requirements that Noctua NH-L9i-17xx meets as one of the few coolers (maybe the only one?). The first two requirements could probably be argued about in others, but in the end it still comes down to the support for Intel’s new socket. Moreover, the NH-L9i-17xx outperforms even coolers twice its size, including the Arctic Alpine 17, with the right settings. Read more “Noctua NH-L9i-17xx: Only 37 mm tall and 65 W in silence” »

Intel Pentium G7400: For what are two cores with HT (not) enough?

From the top, we gradually worked our way down to the class of the iconic Pentium. Its design is quite conservative by today’s standards. The performance of the dual-core processor is at the limit, which begins to complicate the actual execution of the tests. One of the biggest appeals is the low power draw, but that may not be worth much if your processor can’t handle your demands in real time. Or can it? Noctua plans changes: surprise fan grilles, delays of key products

Along with a cooler release, Noctua has updated their roadmap, leaving no stone unturned. A lot of products are being pushed to a later date, including the upcoming 140 mm fans. But the good news is that at least fan grilles, which will surely appear in our tests sooner or later, have appeared out of the blue in the window for the coming months or maybe just weeks.
