AMD set the price of the more affordable Radeon RX 9070 as a direct competitor to GeForce RTX 5070. Compared to Nvidia’s card, it offers better raw performance and 16 GB of memory instead of 12 GB. For dedicated gamers, AMD’s Radeon is the more attractive option. However, there’s one compelling reason to avoid the RX 9070 from AMD—the slightly more expensive but significantly more powerful Radeon RX 9070 XT.
The final set of measurements comes from the Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition benchmark with Extreme settings at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. Here, the GPU load fluctuates, causing the fans to react more erratically to rapid changes in load.
The average GPU clock speed hovered around 2580 MHz.
In terms of power consumption, the card consistently stays at the power limit.
The spike visible in the fan speeds is caused by higher hotspot temperatures (shown in yellow).
Under stable load, the spikes are less frequent, but when the hotspot reaches around 92 °C, the fans ramp up to around 2000 RPM.
