We did it. We successfully organized the second annual HWCooling Techtour, reaching schools across our entire country. Beyond the knowledge that students (and teachers) took away from representatives of renowned companies, they also received permanent teaching aids. The students nicely demonstrated their knowledge and skills in various prepared activities. Everything is on camera and some of it is in photographs as well.
Following the “dress rehearsal” at SPŠ Stará Turá, Martin became the venue for the nationwide event. The HWCooling Techtour ’25 was broadcast on October 9th from the cinema hall of the SPŠT Martin. This is a conference focused on computer hardware, with the aim of bringing it to schools, to the students. And in its current form—meaning the latest graphics cards (GeForce RTX 50 series), the latest ATX 3.1 power supplies, the latest PC cases, and also the latest expanding peripherals.
The opening words were followed by a representative from Nvidia, and then representatives from MSI (in both cases, the topics were graphics cards, laptops, and various technologies associated with this hardware).
The author of the HWiNFO application and a developer from Endorfy also gave lectures. The latter focused primarily on power supplies and was in English. It was great to see (and hear) that the students weren’t afraid to ask questions even in a foreign language. For those more comfortable with Slovak, a moderator was prepared, who is also the administrator of the international version of HWCooling.net.
The program was concluded by Brno-based Axagon.
Everything was successful and regarding this first broadcasted version, the atmosphere in the team is filled with satisfaction. For this, we also thank FEIT UNIZA (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, University of Žilina), without whose help a professional audiovisual broadcast would not have been possible.
Venue and preparations were also essential. These aspects were perfectly handled by the Secondary Industrial Technical School in Martin. We somehow managed to connect everything together, and the result can be seen primarily in the more than 6-hour video recording below.
So it worked out this year, and next time it will be even better, more polished. We know where the weak points are and what needs work. The foundation is there, anyway, and we are also pleased by how skilled the students of our (Slovak) technical schools are. The most active participants in the knowledge competition also joined a skills competition at the end, where they installed a graphics card into a case with a motherboard. They also had to connect the power cable from the power supply, and you can see for yourself how they did. From HWCooling and Datacomp (a big thanks here for the great technical support!)—they did great. But you can judge for yourself; the recording of the process is available.
The winner from the school in Stará Turá finished his work in 6 minutes and 29 seconds. In Martin, it was similar (7 minutes and 3 seconds).
Our friends from Datacomp provided many things without which the result wouldn’t have been the same. Including an attractive PC setup on stage…
… and of course, thanks once again to the representatives from Nvidia, MSI, HWiNFO, Endorfy, and Axagon for making time to come and present at the schools. This useful event also wouldn’t have happened without the interest from the schools (and their internal preparations… on this topic, after gathering materials, we will later publish a separate article with photos of how it looked at each location). Excellent cooperation in this matter was also had with the Žilina and Trenčín self-governing regions, which are the governing authorities of state schools in their respective regions. Their support, in turn, enabled the production and distribution of thematic teaching aids with breakdowns of a graphics card, a power supply, and a case.
