Deepcool launches the CH510 (WH). Useful cases for the masses?

Deepcool CH510 and CH510 WH

Minimalist appearance, maximalist support for cooling components. In this spirit, Deepcool releases the new CH510 and CH510 WH (with white finish) computer cases. They are priced well under a hundred euros, and although they don’t stand out with any eccentric features (and the port selection is relatively modest as well), they are definitely an option to consider for mid-range builds.

Deepcool describes the new CH510 (WH) cases as a “midi-tower”, which is fitting with their volume of approximately 47 litres. Two colour options are available, one all black, the other white. But even that one sticks with the black interior. White is only the finish of the exterior sheet metal. The structure consists of steel, plastic (ABS) for the legs and tempered glass, which plays the role of the left side panel. The front panel is solid, without perforations. These are only just behind it and stretch the entire height of the case.

The chosen concept is somewhat reminiscent of the competing NZXT H510 case, with these cases supporting up to 360 mm radiators for liquid coolers (the NZXT H510 officially stops at 280 mm), even in the top position. There is no word on any restrictions on radiator height in the available materials. However, given that the dimensions are dominated by height (471 mm), it’s probably safe to assume that there will be room for AIOs with a traditional 55 mm thickness between the ceiling and the motherboard.

For system cooling, up to seven 120 mm fans or five 140 mm fans can be installed in CH510 cases in total. However, the base configuration includes only one (120 mm) at the exhaust. The free positions for possible expansion with additional fans are then three (or two if 140 mm fans are used) at the front, and the same set of fan positions is also under the ceiling. Finally, there’s one more position at the back, this one is already fitted with a 120 mm fan, but also allows for an eventual replacement with a 140 mm fan.

The bottom compartment is reserved for storage drives. Specifically for two 3.5″ and one 2.5″. The other two 2.5″ SSD/HDDs can be installed from the back on the motherboard tray. ATX power supplies are supported with lengths up to 170 mm, graphics cards can reach up to 380 mm and the tower cooler can fit with a height of 175 mm (and we don’t know about any taller ones in the current CPU cooler range…).

To support such tall coolers, the case is naturally quite wide, at 230 mm. It then has 435 mm of depth, which is enough even for an E-ATX motherboard. These cases officially support it, but the specifications no longer indicate up to what width. It’s possible that it’s without limitations in this regard, but with wider ones there will probably already be overlapping PCBs with grommets for cabling.

Among Deepcool’s product images is an attractive front-to-back view, across the full depth of the case. This shows that the front mounting positions for fans or a radiator are grille-less, but that doesn’t mean the fans operate in a completely non-restrictive environment. Naturally they have to overcome the resistance of both the dust filter and the perforations in the mask.

The ventilation on the exhaust is quite unconventional. This is both because of the square shape of the grille, and because of the fan with blades inclined at a smaller angle. These fans also break up the air more significantly in the radial axis, similarly to the Noctua NF-S12A/B fans.

The front panel with connectors and buttons (start and reset) is rather strange. This is because it uses one shared jack instead of separate jacks (separate for headphones and separate for microphone). This naturally requires a headphone jack with a four-pin connector, which is more typical for mobile devices than desktops. Only two USB ports are brought out (3.2 gen 1, i.e. 5-gigabit).

The final prices are already known. Deepcool recommends selling the black variant (CH510) to customers for 79.99 EUR and the white variant (CS510 WH) for 84.99 EUR. The cases will be available in stores from mid-September.
