RTX 4090 from PNY to have Cooler Master Mobius fans

PNY RTX 4090 Verto (ARGB) Dual Fan

Cooler Master is involved in the production of a GPU cooler. However, you can’t buy it separately as it is an exclusive part of the PNY RTX 4090 Verto ARGB Dual Fan. After Asus with Noctua coolers, this is another case where a traditional graphics card manufacturer has recognized that using the experience of a company specializing in cooling components will achieve a better result. But that’s at an extreme, 4.5-slot thickness.

At one of the stands at Computex 23, an extremely thick graphics card appeared. The RTX 4090 Verto (ARGB) Dual Fan should be up to 89mm thick, which is even more than non-reference Asus cards with Noctua coolers (87.5mm).

PNY and Cooler Master have taken on the RTX 4090, which is a significant performance leap over Asus’ most powerful “Noctua Edition” graphics card – the RTX 4080. In addition to the massive passive, what’s remarkable is the use of full 120mm fans with a 25mm profile, 5–10mm higher than is common on the vast majority of GeForce RTX 4090s. On the exhibition floor, prototypes appeared with Mobius 120P ARGB and Mobius 120 (OC?) appeared, the latter being an eventual alternative for those not interested in brightly colored lighting. In any case, the fans always combine long curved blades fitted with a circular frame. As always with this type of design, it is intended to eliminate the higher flexibility of the blades, reduce vibrations and thus suppress tonal peaks that would otherwise occur to some extent when using a material with less stiffness.

You can already check out the fan specs on Cooler Master’s website, but there may be some changes as part of the implementation into the PNY graphics card cooler. The speed can be lower, higher and hopefully the PWM control will be better handled compared to Mobius 120 OC (link to HWC test) and the fan will start from a lower speed. And maybe only PNY will reach for DC control, which ultimately doesn’t matter that much. The important thing is that the operation is reasonably quiet for the premium. Aerodynamically that will probably be achieved, but the question is to what extent the coils will spoil the acoustic response. If PNY were to use the PCB design of the Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G graphics card in this performance category with super-quiet coils, the result could be very impressive.

It’s also notable that although the RTX 4090 Verto (ARGB) Dual Fan’s dimensions will be huge, the case compatibility will be wider than many other RTX 4090s that are longer. In fact, this non-reference PNY design is “only” 305mm in length. The bulk is made up for by the excessive height/thickness at 4.5 PCI Express slots.

When and at what price these graphics cards will appear on the market we do not know at the moment.
