Asus Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 OC Ed. Review: Extreme AiO

A major drawback of the exceptionally powerful GeForce RTX 5090 is the high power demands of its large GB202 chip. Even when equipped with a premium air cooler, the card still requires robust system cooling to handle its nearly 600W heat output. However, AiO liquid cooling models can offer even better thermal performance, thanks to their larger radiators with three 120mm fans, which expel hot air directly outside the case.

Further testing was conducted using the F1 24 benchmark at 3840 × 2160 resolution with Ultra settings. This involves five consecutive laps on Singapore’s wet track. Unlike other benchmarks, this represents continuous load without drops between laps, keeping the card heated.

Here the GPU is more heavily utilized than in Cyberpunk, resulting in slightly lower clock speeds – during the final test lap after heating, speeds ranged between 2745 and 2805 MHz, averaging 2775 MHz.

In this test, the card consistently hits the 600W power limit.

GPU temperatures remain below 60°C.

The graph shows the card’s fan quickly ramping up past 1700 RPM. The radiator fans (shown in blue-purple) increase their speed more gradually.
