Asus Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 OC Ed. Review: Extreme AiO

A major drawback of the exceptionally powerful GeForce RTX 5090 is the high power demands of its large GB202 chip. Even when equipped with a premium air cooler, the card still requires robust system cooling to handle its nearly 600W heat output. However, AiO liquid cooling models can offer even better thermal performance, thanks to their larger radiators with three 120mm fans, which expel hot air directly outside the case.

F1 24 (quiet)

Further tests are from the F1 24 benchmark at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels with Ultra settings. This benchmark consists of five laps on the Singapore circuit in wet conditions. Unlike other benchmarks, this is a sustained workload – there is no drop in load between laps, and the card remains heated.

In this test, the chip is under more intense load than in Cyberpunk, and its clock speeds are slightly lower – after heating up, during the final lap of the test, they fluctuate between 2782 and 2782 MHz, averaging 2757 MHz

Here, too, the card stays at the 600 W power limit.

After heating up, the chip temperatures hover around 65–66 °C.

The card’s fan starts up immediately, while the radiator fans run at minimum speeds for a long time, only increasing slightly in the latter half of the test. Even then, they remain at around 1100 RPM.
