Asus ROG Strix XF120: An excellent fan, but only in some ways

The first and still the only Asus fan that is on sale individually may be a good choice. But you can also get burnt. It depends on what you want to use it for. In the right context, it gives attractive results, and the impression of a very decent fan is spoiled mainly by pointless design details or sugar-coating the specs. Anyway, you can see that compared to the more ordinary fans from the last test, the Strix is a bit of a different class.

Airflow per euro

Explanatory note: The following charts will give a quick overview of the airflow rate per price unit. We can thus talk about the coefficient for the price/performance ratio. This is the ratio of the measured airflow rate in m3h of pressure to the fan price (in euros) multiplied by 1000. This is specifically so that the results do not start with unflattering zeros.







Why is there a missing value sometimes? There may be more reasons. Usually it is because the fan could not be adjusted to the target noise level. Some have a higher minimum speed (or the speed is low, but the motor is too noisy) or it is a slower fan that will not reach the higher decibels. But the results in the graphs are also missing if the rotor is brushing against the nylon filter mesh. In that case, we evaluate this combination as incompatible. And zero in the graphs is naturally also in situations where we measure 0.00. This is a common occurrence at extremely low speeds with obstructions or within vibration measurements.
