At first glance, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC doesn’t impress with a flashy design or a vibrant light show. It’s not among the cheapest models, but it’s far from the most expensive. In a standard position, the lighting is rather subtle, the backlit fans stand out more in a vertical setup. The real advantage, though, is the oversized cooler and well-tuned fan control, allowing this card to surpass even more expensive competitors in terms of operating characteristics.
I measured the operating characteristics in the F1 24 benchmark at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels with the Ultra setting and DLAA anti-aliasing. With this setting, the GPU is fully loaded. This is a benchmark with five laps on the Singapore map in wet conditions.
The frame rate hovers at around 70.4 fps.
The card’s clock speed holds steady at around 2790 MHz.
According to the monitoring, the power consumption of the card itself is again just below the limit
The total power consumption of the PC, measured with the UT71E multimeter, is shown in dark color. The green line represents the power consumption of the card based on monitoring, and the blue line shows the processor’s power consumption according to monitoring (measured through HWiNFO).
Temperatures are still more than decent, the fans are already a bit noisier under stable long-term load than in Cyberpunk, where the card took short breaks between the benchmark runs.
Values around 1380 rpm mean a noise level of 33.8 dBA. Great for such a high performance card, it’s better than a lot of cards with much lower performance and power consumption.
