MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ventus 2x OC 8 GB review: A Solid Baseline

The Ventus 2X OC model with 8 GB of memory is the most affordable GeForce RTX 5060 variant from MSI. It features a compact dual-slot cooler with a length of 20 cm, making it suitable even for small-form-factor cases. The cooler is slightly louder than average due to overly high fan speeds, but it has sufficient headroom for manual fan speed reduction. But with 8 GB of memory, compromises are necessary in the most demanding games.

Fan behavior, noise level

Fan speeds can be set in a range of 30–100%, corresponding to approximately 1180–3500 RPM (30.2–58.2 dBA). At minimum speeds, the fans were quiet.

Under load, once temperatures stabilized, fan speeds ranged around 1900–2200 RPM, at which point the card’s noise level is slightly worse than the average for budget models. Under normal circumstances, however, a difference of around 3 dBA is noticeable only when comparing two cards back to back.

The graph shows that the cooler still has sufficient headroom upward. And the graphs in the following chapters make it clear that there is also room to reduce fan speeds and thus quiet the card.

The following graphs also show the frequency spectrum at minimum fan speed, maximum measured operating fan speed, and at maximum performance.
