We’ll look at how the performance-tuning profiles in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition affect the behavior of Gigabyte’s Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC. We’ll show a simple way to overclock the GPU both manually and automatically using the basic presets, how to undervolt it, and how to adjust the power limits for overclocking. We’ll also measure how performance changes when we reduce the card’s power draw by 100 W, and we’ll try VRAM tuning.
Default settings vs. Favor Performance
This setting is supposed to increase card performance, presumably by raising the power limit. But on the test card, no such change was visible or measurable. The most likely explanation is that the manufacturer already raised the power limit from the reference 304 W up to 330 W. And while you can still manually push it up by another 10%, this profile doesn’t apply that change.
It can be assumed that with cards using reference or only slightly raised power limits, this profile would increase the limit.
There’s no noticeable change in HWiNFO either, with power limits and clocks looking the same.
The same holds true for the following tests, where the differences fall within normal measurement error.
Cyberpunk 2077, BIOS Quiet
This is again a run of the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark with RT Medium settings at 3840 × 2160 resolution. The test consists of eight consecutive runs, with averages taken from the last one. After the marked section, additional runs follow at the same settings but in 2560 × 1440 resolution.

F1 24, BIOS Quiet, default settings vs. Favor Performance
Additional tests were run in the F1 24 benchmark at 3840 × 2160 resolution with Ultra settings. This benchmark consists of five laps on the Singapore track in wet conditions. Unlike most benchmarks, this is continuous load with no breaks between loops, so the card remains fully heated throughout.
