DisplayPort 2.1b introduced. New GeForce GPUs already have it

A new version of the HDMI interface, HDMI 2.2 with new Ultra96-class cables was announced at CES. VESA’s competing DisplayPort standard is also getting an update, perhaps as a reaction to the new HDMI. It’s a minor upgrade though, with its label DisplayPort 2.1b indicating smaller changes compared to the previous new version 2.1a. Radeon RX 9000 MIA? What we learned (not) about RDNA 4 at CES

AMD revealed a lineup of new CPUs for 2025 during CES keynote, but not graphics cards. Although the new RDNA 4 graphics cards were believed to target CES reveal, the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT were not discussed. It seems out that the new cards were supposed to have just a “preview” at CES 2025. AMD’s new graphics card, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, is coming this month. Chinese sources say it will have a 260–270W TDP and clock speeds of around 2.8GHz base and up to 3.0–3.1GHz in boost. Recently, more details of it came together, as well as the first news on the cheaper Radeon RX 9070 “non-XT” version. New GPUs from Nvidia but also from AMD are due out next month. There are fewer rumors about the latter. We know what GPUs AMD is preparing, but not what cards they’ll base on them. Until now, we’ve referred to them as Radeon RX 8000 series, but the reality seems to be more complicated. AMD is in fact preparing Radeon RX 8000, but also Radeon RX 9000 cards at the same time. Batttlemage: Details of Intel Xe2 GPU architecture [Analysis]

Intel Officially Announced the Arc B580 and B570 Battlemage

Yesterday, Intel officially unveiled two initial models of the new generation of Arc graphics cards. Their chips use an architecture codenamed Battlemage, and one of key advantages is expected to be a strong price-to-performance ratio in the lower mid-range segment. They offer significant improvements over the previous generation in nearly every aspect and introduce alternatives to most competing technologies Intel has lacked in previous lineup. Intel Battlemage is here, Arc B580 and B570 out next week

A few days ago, stores leaked the Intel’s next-gen Arc B580 “Battlemage” graphics card, which should go on sale in December. And now it seems to have been confirmed, the release date has been leaked as well as the fact that there won’t be just one Battlemage card. Intel is preparing two or three SKUs. GeForce RTX 5090 gets Chinese D version, no performance reduction

A year ago, due to US sanctions aimed at limiting China’s access to powerful AI acceleration, Nvidia began selling the cut-down RTX 4090D instead of the GeForce RTX 4090 in that market because the high-end gaming GPU was already crossing the performance limits imposed. As expected, the new Blackwell generation will face the same problem and Nvidia is preparing a special RTX 5090D Chinese SKU, but reportedly with full performance. Intel’s new Arc “Battlemage” gaming GPUs coming out next month

No new GPUs from Nvidia are expected to hit the market this year with the new products will be revealed in January (at CES 2025). But one possibly important premiere in the world of gaming GPUs is still slated to happen this year – Intel’s new Arc desktop GPUs, the Battlemage architecture, will be released.
