What’s it about and how to participate
One PSU contest is over, another one is starting. Cooler Master has donated its 850-watt GX III Gold model to our HWCooling contest. With a little luck, you can win one. It won’t be completely “free”, but you won’t break much of a sweat either. All you need to do is show a basic understanding of the Cooler Master power supply stuff. This will be especially easy for fans of the brand, but anyone can do it.
What’s it about…
The GX III Gold 850 power supply is categorically in the mid-range of Cooler Master’s offerings. In price, performance and, we assume, efficiency (subject to 80 Plus Gold parameters). We will soon check the latter in our own tests. In the meantime, you have official specs and a few design details, which we took a rough look at earlier.
… and how to participate
You can enter the contest by answering simple thematic questions
- Name all other model series (except the GX III Gold) of Cooler Master power supplies with ATX 3.0 support.
- What is the specified continuous current load of the GX III 850 Gold (i.e. the 850 W variant) on the 12-volt rail?
- What makes the 12VHPWR cable characteristic and structurally different from the vast majority of competing power supplies? You can add an explanation of what such a modification is good for. But that’s an additional part of the question that you don’t need to address to be entered into the draw.

The winner can then find themselves announced the following day ( December 10, 2023) in a highlighted box below this text. Naturally in email format with hidden characters. You can enter from anywhere in the world, we can deliver the prize anywhere. There are no geographical restrictions here. So best of luck!
