A really low-profile CPU cooler. That’s the thing BeQuiet! didn’t have in its offer until now . With the 45 mm tall (or rather short) Pure Rock LP, the situation changes. Compared to many competing solutions, this cooler has the advantage of wider compatibility. Mainly, it supports the AMD AM5 platform which surprised some small top-flow coolers and took them off the compatibility list. Perforated front and a display, the new DeepCool case
DeepCool has modified the original design of the CH510 to allow for more efficient cooling, which can also be better controlled with the Mesh Digital variant. It has an information panel with temperatures of key components. It is implemented using a simple display, so the price has not risen too much and is still attractive. There is higher airflow due to the more open shell and also the added positions for installing optional fans. Read more “Perforated front and a display, the new DeepCool case”
Alphacool introduces the “Core” series of high-speed fans
Six new models, with the slowest capping at 2,000 rpm and the fastest up to 4,000 rpm. It’s a mix of 120 and 140-millimeter fans, where with the larger format Alphacool reached for differently modeled rotors. This is also with a view to ensuring that a fan this fast and relatively large can operate at all at reasonably low vibration. Among Alphacool’s new products is therefore a fan with more robust blades as well. Read more “Alphacool introduces the “Core” series of high-speed fans”
Dark fans, showy block: the new DeepCool LT liquid coolers
DeepCool has expanded the range of its liquid coolers with two models with 120mm fans. The larger one, LT720 (with three fans) and the LT520, which has one less fan. Compared to the LS series of liquid coolers, fans without LEDs are used, but the designers implemented ARGB LEDs into the cooler block housing with a mirror effect. Not only this is supposed to be attractive in this part of the cooler, but also the pump itself. Read more “Dark fans, showy block: the new DeepCool LT liquid coolers”
The lowered Alpine 17 (LP) CPU cooler is 43 mm tall
Arctic now has a smaller version of the Alpine 17. The model of this top-flow cooler with the LP (low profile) end tag is one fan lower. This opens doors side panels to tighter cases where taller designs won’t fit, and Intel Laminar RM1 (from Core i3/5/7 packages) or RS1 (from Celerons and Pentiums) coolers tend to be too tall as well. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the Arctic Alpine 17 LP cooler is designed for very low-power processors. Read more “The lowered Alpine 17 (LP) CPU cooler is 43 mm tall”
Arctic MX-6 thermal paste is out, a quick replacement for the MX-5
Arctic is renumbering the MX thermal pastes (from 5 to 6) faster than ever before. The MX-5 arrived just last year, but earlier this year there was a report that some batches were drying up prematurely. As a result of such a shortcoming, customer confidence in these thermal pastes may have been so lowered that a new model is the best route to take from a business perspective. And here it is, unfortunately again without the basic parameters. Read more “Arctic MX-6 thermal paste is out, a quick replacement for the MX-5”
Noctua has frames (NA-IS1) to reduce microturbulence
Simple but clever. The Noctua NA-IS1-1x supplementary frames are an extension to the existing fan frames, which provide greater clearance from an obstacle, thus mitigating microturbulence, which naturally reduces the noise level of the entire cooling system. To what extent, you’ll find out later from our tests, for now let’s take a look at what it’s actually all about and how it all works. Read more “Noctua has frames (NA-IS1) to reduce microturbulence”
Raijintek isn’t done with GPU coolers, readying the Morpheus 8069
Standalone graphics card coolers have not been increasing in numbers lately. This is probably also due to non-reference graphics cards that include a decent cooler. But Raijintek still sees some room in them and is preparing a new revision of Morpheus – 8069. Big heatsink, big fans, high TDP (360 W) and silent operation even with performance that is otherwise (with built-in coolers) “audible”. 65W CPU with Zen 4 architecture is coming: AMD Ryzen 7 7700
When the specs of the Ryzen 7000s first leaked, one thing was disappointing. These processors use 5nm process that is much more efficient, yet AMD has not exploited this potential. Likely due to pressure from Intel’s big.LITTLE processors, the company has increased power draw to raise multi-threaded performance and instead of 65W and 105W TDPs, the TDPs went up to 105W and 170W. But lower-power versions are fortunately in the pipeline. Read more “65W CPU with Zen 4 architecture is coming: AMD Ryzen 7 7700”
The very first LCP fans with LEDs are from Thermaltake
Until now, no fans with ARGB LEDs have been made from liquid crystal polymers. Now, the Toughfan 12 RGB and Toughfan 14 RGB are changing that. And since the aerodynamic performance is heavily dependent on the rigidity of the blades, especially in restrictive environments, Thermaltake’s rendition will be some of the most efficient flashy fans overall. If not the most efficient, the Toughfans have the geometry for it. Read more “The very first LCP fans with LEDs are from Thermaltake”
600 W via two 12-pins. BeQuiet! has an adapter for RTX 4090
Current ATX (2.x standard) power supplies are quite unprepared, at least for the RTX 4090 graphics card. Connecting it to them is only possible via an adapter, and a rather awkward one – with a big tangle of wires. As an alternative, BeQuiet! has released its solution, the 12VHPWR adapter. In its essence, it is a fork (with two 12-pins) that will work with the upcoming ATX 3.0 power supply standard. Read more “600 W via two 12-pins. BeQuiet! has an adapter for RTX 4090”
Noctua’s current roadmap: 140mm “sterroxes” later this year
Noctua has announced a new release schedule for its products. And within it, the main question was this – Did the new generation of 140mm fans stay in the fourth quarter of 2022? It did. Given the more advanced time (towards the end of the year), it is thus likely that 140mm fans made from improved LCP from sterrox are right around the corner. Noctua also needs them for the successor to the NH-D15 cooler, which is due out just after them. Read more “Noctua’s current roadmap: 140mm “sterroxes” later this year”
CPU coolers Deepcool AK now also available in black
Deepcool’s latest line of tower coolers (AK) kicked off a year ago with the twin-tower AK620, which was later gradually followed by the smaller AK400 and AK500 models. There are more of these “AK” coolers now and for those users who don’t like the grey fins, Deepcool has an alternative. The coolers with the Zero Dark designation will soon be available in a black coated version. Read more “CPU coolers Deepcool AK now also available in black”
Paste on AM5 won’t get where it doesn’t belong – Noctua NA-TPG1
The large number of creases on the heat spreader of CPUs for the AMD AM5 platform means a lot of places where thermal paste can run off and dry out. Removing it is then very laborious when cleaning, which is why Noctua has released a frame to protect these critical spots. And it will also protect the exposed SMD next to the heat spreader from paste or possibly liquid metals. Read more “Paste on AM5 won’t get where it doesn’t belong – Noctua NA-TPG1”
We have a list of BeQuiet! coolers with AMD AM5 support
BeQuiet! has released an official statement on which of their coolers support the new AMD platform with the AM5/LGA 1718 socket. Physically, almost all models can be installed, but still make sure you don’t happen to have the one that can’t. It’s also good to know that for full compatibility, the right spacing of holes is not enough, but also the right cooling performance. Only two coolers are recommended by BeQuiet! for the Ryzen 9 processors. Read more “We have a list of BeQuiet! coolers with AMD AM5 support”
