Explore Maker Faire 2025 with us: when technology meets creativity

At the Brno Exhibition Centre, Maker Faire Brno 2025 gathered hobbyists, makers, students, schools, makerspaces, and companies. Robotics, drones, 3D printing, electronics, and space research projects dominated. Visitors saw everything from ideas and prototypes to finished products. Alongside ran GameDev Connect for game development, featuring Czech studios and indie creators.

“Robopictures” is an experiment by the Cabinet of 3D Technologies—the Additive Robotic Creation lab at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. A robot arm converts images into halftones and repeatedly renders the same motif along different trajectories. The density and intensity of the paint govern its motion—either by varying how much material is laid down or by changing the toolpath. The resulting works arise from a blend of precise machine control and the artistic principle of halftone.

ValienteProject studio is a group focused on 3D printing and hand-painting miniatures, including the creation of dioramas. Their stand featured figures and scenes primarily from Dungeons & Dragons/role-playing games, ranging from small models to larger dioramas.

The figures and dioramas are created by combining 3D printing and manual finishing. The models are first designed digitally and printed on detailed resin printers, then manually processed, painted with acrylics, and enhanced with realistic textures and small props. For larger dioramas, the team assembles multiple printed parts, which are then patinated and lit to achieve a faithful spatial impression.

Pulsovat—a collaboration by Digital Cave & Samsung The Frame—let visitors try an interactive installation that combined AI, imagery, and motion. Using a camera, text input, and visual-manipulation tools, you could interact with a custom AI system built on the TouchDesigner platform. The resulting digital visuals were projected in real time onto Samsung The Frame displays, creating a seamless fusion of human input and generated imagery.

Roman Krejčík and his CYBER Steampunk Art combine steampunk elements with electronics and mechanics into relief “paintings” made from recycled components. He uses printed circuit boards, electronic parts, gears, and gramophone records; the parts are patinated and composed into technically evocative panels. It showcases precise craftsmanship and material layering instead of classical painting. For an audience interested in hardware, it represents a more comprehensible, “technical” type of artifact—an attractive alternative to canvases where the primary medium is paint.

 


Maker Faire: What 21st century creators brought to the show

Maker Faire festivals are a beautiful showcase of what modern technology makes possible. The whole maker world feels like a big playground for both kids and adults. It’s incredible to think about what anyone can create at home today, on a small budget, using programmable controllers and online resources.
