Graphics cards from the latest generation are still pricey, but more affordable models have become easier to find in stores. The Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC is one of the more reasonably priced options. It uses the same cooling and board layout as the more powerful Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC, but thanks to lower power consumption, it runs cooler and quieter—making it a more compelling choice for many users.
The card features a black plastic shroud with gray accents, equipped with sleeve-bearing fans using graphene nano-lubricant. Gigabyte claims this doubles bearing lifespan while maintaining quieter operation than dual-ball-bearing designs. The fans provide top-down airflow through transverse fin arrays.
A metal backplate protects the PCB, featuring an open section exposing the heatsink’s rear fins for unobstructed airflow.
Along the card’s edge, a sliding mechanism lets you position the transparent Gigabyte logo over an ARGB-lit strip for customizable lighting effects.
Weighing 1.11kg, this card sits at the lighter end of the spectrum – approximately 150g lighter than the premium RX 9070 XT Gaming OC model.
The 11mm-thick fans feature standard-proportion blades on slightly undersized 9cm impellers.
Gigabyte implements counter-rotating fans, with the center fan spinning opposite its neighbors. A large rear vent beneath the third fan facilitates direct heat exhaust upward from the card.
At 29 cm long, this card is shorter than Sapphire’s Radeon models we’ve previously tested.
It extends less than 3cm beyond the bracket, with recessed power connectors ensuring compatibility with narrower cases. The 2.5-slot design requires at least three expansion slots worth of clearance.
The BIOS switch sits adjacent to the power connectors, offering Performance (default) and Silent mode selection.
The port configuration breaks from convention – instead of three DisplayPort 2.1b connections, this card offers two DisplayPorts (supporting UHBR13.5) plus dual HDMI 2.1b ports. Notably, current GeForce cards already support faster UHBR20 standards.
Power delivery uses twin 8-pin connectors, each with LED indicators for power supply issues.
