Intel Core i5-13600K: Better value than Ryzen 5 7600X? Yes and no

The Intel Core i5-13600K processor gives the impression of being from a slightly different class than the Ryzen 5 7600X. AMD’s Raphael with only 6 cores against 14 cores (albeit eight of them only small, Gracemont) of Raptor Lake may look like an underdog that should be significantly cheaper. However, one must be careful when making judgments. Although the Ci5-13600K is a great processor, so is the still only Ryzen 5 7000 in the game so far.

Intel Nova Lake CPUs Already Passed USB4 and PCIe 5.0 Validation

The final quarter of the year is here, and it increasingly looks like we will not see a new generation of x86 CPUs before the end of it, whether from AMD (Zen 6 has been launched in servers only) or Intel. There is a sign that the latter’s new CPUs are getting closer, though. The silicon for “Nova Lake” CPUs with a new architecture and 2nm manufacturing process has now successfully passed certification for USB4 and PCI Express 5.0 support. DLSS 5 Now Running on Intel GPUs Too: Support Vibe Coded by AI

Nvidia’s clearly intended the DLSS 5 game AI image-enhancement technology to be exclusive for GeForce GPUs—as with previous DLSS versions—if not outright a “vendor lock-in” to stifle competition. Ironically, it currently seems to be the DLSS tech easiest to get running on competing hardware, hough actual practical viability of the unofficial ports remains unclear. And modders have now managed to get it running on Intel GPUs as well. Read more “DLSS 5 Now Running on Intel GPUs Too: Support Vibe Coded by AI” »

Intel Adds High-NA Tech to 1.8nm, Already Using it in Production

Last week, at the SPIE Photomask Technology + Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography conference, Intel and ASML announced a surprising development. In cooperation with ASML, Intel has already manufactured one million silicon wafers using High-NA, which is a technology representing the next major leap in advanced chip manufacturing after EUV litography. Prior to this, High-NA was expected to be deployed only several years from now. Read more “Intel Adds High-NA Tech to 1.8nm, Already Using it in Production” »
