Analysis of DeepCool’s efficient 120 mm fan—the FD12

Just ahead of the release of the second version of the DeepCool FD12, we’re publishing the results of the first so you have a comparison available—not only with the technically more modern variant, but also with competing fans. As for the FD12’s characteristics, even within its price class they are already attractive. In the end, judge for yourself based on hundreds of measurements.

Results: Speed

Note: The stated speeds are measured in a non-restrictive, obstacle-free environment. With obstacles present, the fans will be slowed down. The degree will vary fan to fan but the achieved speeds will simply be slightly different. They are lower mostly in modes normalized by different noise levels.









Why is a value sometimes missing for a fan? There can be several reasons. Most commonly, it’s because the fan couldn’t be regulated to the target noise level. Some fans have higher minimum RPM (or they spin slowly but have an excessively noisy motor), or they are simply slower models that can’t reach higher decibel thresholds. Results are also omitted from graphs if the impeller scrapes against the mesh of a nylon filter. In such cases, we classify the combination as incompatible. And of course, a zero in the graphs naturally appears in situations where we record an actual 0.00. This often occurs at extremely low speeds when obstacles are present or during vibration measurements.
