Intel Arrow Lake Refresh: More cores for affordable models

Early next year, Intel will release new desktop CPUs meant to refresh its current Core Ultra 200 (codenamed „Arrow Lake“) line for socket LGA 1851. A sneak peek at what we can expect has now been provided by a leak of one of the coming models in the database of Geekbench, software used for CPU performance benchmarks. In it, someone took out for a spin one of the CPUs that will be released as part of the coming refresh. Read more “Intel Arrow Lake Refresh: More cores for affordable models” »

New X3D Ryzens to eliminate clock issues, 192MB model on the way

In August, we had a report that AMD is preparing new Ryzen 9000 processors aimed at gamers: a 16-core chip that would no longer have its large 3D V-Cache only on half the cores (or better said under, as the cache die sits beneath the core die), but on both, and a new gaming 8-core with V-Cache. The specifications have now surfaced, and it looks like both CPUs could be a bigger surprise than expected. Read more “New X3D Ryzens to eliminate clock issues, 192MB model on the way” »

Material for schools: CPU and motherboard breakdown

From the HWCooling Techtour ’24 conference, we have materials that could be useful for educational purposes. Therefore, within this article, we are publishing a breakdown of a CPU and motherboard, the still-relevant materials that were used for printing large-format posters. We no longer have the physical copies—they have been distributed to some schools—but the digital version of these materials is also beneficial. HWCooling Techtour ’25: Perspective of schools participating online

The schools that followed the conference (HWCooling Techtour) remotely also handled it excellently. If there’s anything we can be proud of in our country, it’s also what you can see in this article. It is primarily a large photo gallery capturing how the conference took place at individual schools across Slovakia. How they prepared in their own premises and participated in HWCooling Techtour ’25. Read more “HWCooling Techtour ’25: Perspective of schools participating online” »

Intel Core 300 CPUs Unveiled: Details and Features of Panther Lake

Intel unveiled its next generation of Core Ultra 300 laptop processors, codenamed Panther Lake last week. This wasn’t the full launch, but we did learn a lot about their layout and design, as well as the architecture and new features they’ll bring. The main strengths of Panther Lake likely won’t be the CPU cores themselves, but the whole platform’s features. Another plus is that manufacturing is moving back to Intel’s own fabs. BeQuiet! Riddle (10/2025). Can you guess what’s in the photo?

In cooperation with BeQuiet!, we have prepared a cyclical activity for this year, which may be of interest to HWCooling readers. We’ll post a detail of some piece of hardware and you can guess what it is. You can compete (and eventually win something) on a regular basis, with a new challenge every month. But for now, you need to get “to the next round” through the next one, in October. Read more “BeQuiet! Riddle (10/2025). Can you guess what’s in the photo?” »

AMD got massive GPU order from OpenAI. Had to pay for it dearly

In recent weeks, we’ve seen SoftBank, Nvidia, and the U.S. government pour money into Intel in exchange for a significant stake in the chip industry’s former hegemon. Now a similar scenario is playing out with AMD, albeit in a stranger form. The company has announced a contract with OpenAI that, on one hand, has AMD securing a larger slice of the AI market, but on the other, hands a substantial piece of AMD over to OpenAI. Tomorrow is the day! Join us at HWCooling Techtour ’25

So, it’s settled. Everyone and everything is ready so that tomorrow we can hold the conference about GeForce RTX 50, power supplies, and much more. There will be several surprises and things worth coming for. The main thing is that you know where to go, what to attend, and when to do so. From this article, that will be clear. We have not only a window for the prepared video stream for you, but also the time and content schedule and an overall plan. Read more “Tomorrow is the day! Join us at HWCooling Techtour ’25” »

Latest hardware at SPŠ Stará Turá. GeForce RTX 50 and ATX 3.1

Documentation of what took place at SPŠ Stará Turá. The students of the school encountered the most modern technologies. To ensure it wouldn’t remain only a short-term conference that is already over, we also handed over “hardware” tools to the teachers, which they can use in teaching specialized subjects. A lot really happened, and some of it we captured with a camera, with the results published in the gallery of this article. Read more “Latest hardware at SPŠ Stará Turá. GeForce RTX 50 and ATX 3.1” »

On the Scene. 7 Days Before HWCooling Techtour “Slovakia”

Posters are up, announcements sent, schools are getting ready. The HWCooling Techtour conference is a topic everywhere this initiative makes sense. Before the cameras turn on, we documented how things look in progress. Of course, only partly—there are many partial things this project consists of, and many will only be revealed after the conferences end, or remain visible exclusively at Slovak technical schools that “will be there.” Read more “On the Scene. 7 Days Before HWCooling Techtour “Slovakia”” »

Arm processor beating AMD and Intel? Snapdragon X2 Elite is here

Expectations for the first-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite were high: it finally brought the long-awaited CPU architecture from Nuvia, designed by former Apple architects. And while it turned out to be among the best Arm processors so far, some were still a bit underwhelmed. Qualcomm has now unveiled the second generation, which may fix that. We don’t yet have all the details, but early signs point to a huge generational leap. Read more “Arm processor beating AMD and Intel? Snapdragon X2 Elite is here” »

Endorfy in white. A „bright“ premiere in the Stratus line

Offering a choice between two color variants (a light one in addition to the dark) is a trend that Endorfy is also responding to. The very first, completely white fans to be created under this brand are the Stratus fans with ARGB lighting. These are available in both a smaller (120 mm) and a larger format (140 mm). We have tested both fan variants in black, so there is a functional performance baseline to reference. Read more “Endorfy in white. A „bright“ premiere in the Stratus line” »

Almost like price fixing, memory manufacturers hike prices in sync

Not long ago, we reported bad news about NAND Flash prices. Western Digital announced across-the-board increases for HDDs, and its SanDisk division raised prices for NAND and SSDs built from them. It now looks like that was just the beginning—broad price hikes across the memory market are ahead. Samsung, one of the largest producers, has also announced price increases. And it’s not just NAND and SSDs—things may get worse with DRAM. Read more “Almost like price fixing, memory manufacturers hike prices in sync” »

Nvidia and Intel team up: x86 CPUs with built-in GeForce GPUs

Last week brought a sensational piece of news. Ever since AMD acquired GPU maker ATi almost twenty years ago, people have speculated whether Intel and Nvidia might one day strike a similar alliance. It seems that time has finally come, though only now that Intel is in trouble and has to push its pride aside. The two companies announced not a merger, but a far-reaching partnership. It will be interesting to watch where this leads. Read more “Nvidia and Intel team up: x86 CPUs with built-in GeForce GPUs” »

“14nm forever” jokes coming true: Intel goes back to decade old tech

A short while ago we reported on new budget Intel processor that appeared in the company’s lineup as Core 5 120. Behind this new name, however, hides a 7nm Alder Lake chip from 2021, which Intel is calling back into service simply because it doesn’t have much choice. But that was nothing compared to the oddity coming now. Intel has now put the new Core series 100 branding on an almost ancient Comet Lake generation (10th Gen Core) chip.
