We have a colleague attending Taiwan’s Computex trade show, one of the highlights of the PC and hardware calendar, where manufacturers showcase their biggest innovations. We visited Asus, and we picked out a some interesting highlights the company is presenting. Asus, too, showcased motherboards with hidden connectors, along with one improvement that addresses the issue of GPU power cables. There was also a hub for wireless fan control. You may know the Cypriot company operating under the name Valkyrie from our tests. We’ve reviewed several of their coolers and a fan. There’s little to criticize about the products themselves, but as they admit – prices need to come down. If that happens, many of their components, including PC cases, may suddenly start looking much more appealing. Valkyrie showcased exactly what’s on offer at the Taipei exhibition center. At Computex 2025, we visited Gigabyte – one of the top manufacturers of graphics cards, motherboards, and other gear, including laptops. This year, the company focused strongly on laptops, but it also showcased other highlights, like a PC that is the closest thing to a fully Nvidia-powered computer today, with the GB10 processor. Fractal Design’s Computex 2025 showcase took place in office-style spaces – very pleasant ones, at that. What stood out was the fact that their latest cases were equipped with components, allowing visitors to see complete builds. For instance, you could view the Meshify 3 XL in a full desktop setup, or explore cable management in the North XL RC, where an unconventional layout keeps everything out of sight from the front. It’s not “just” about metal components anymore. DeepCool is introducing wooden elements to its coolers and also PC cases. And DeepCool isn’t relying solely on looks – “Spartacus” is the name of a new line of liquid coolers aiming to push the limits of thermal performance. At Computex 2025, the team behind Endorfy showcased prototypes of new panoramic cases as well as more affordable versions of ATX 3.1 power supplies. These are still in development and expected to hit the market next year (2026). Among the items already available for purchase were coolers, some of which we’ve already tested in detail. Following the analysis of details, we now move on to the test results. These demonstrate that Fractal Design’s Momentum fans truly deliver. Just how well is ultimately up to each of you to judge. One factor is the aerodynamic design of the fans, another is the overall airflow design of the case, and yet another is the specific components being cooled. At last, we have the test results for the Fractal Design North XL case. The first article with construction details is now complemented by this second part, which brings a wealth of measurements that form the basis for a comprehensive evaluation. DeepCool has launched the CH690 Digital cases, with a volume of nearly 60 liters. With this capacity, they were designed to handle various setups using the largest components available. In addition to truly long graphics cards – with practically no limits – they also support oversized liquid cooling radiators from the top, bottom, or side. DeepCool is expanding its lineup of compact cases with two new models designed for μATX motherboards. Or, in other words, the largest motherboards that will fit in the CH260 and CH270 Digital cases are Micro ATX. One of these two new cases is horizontally oriented – deeper rather than taller – while the other stands vertically. There are already several motherboards that have some connectors on the back. Typically ones that require cabling. The reason for this “reversal” is mainly aesthetic—to hide the cables and make everything look as clean as possible. In today’s world, where glass side panels are common, unsightly cables are particularly noticeable. Today, we’ll focus on what happens inside a case when a CPU is under heavy load. We’ll run a Cinebench 2024 rendering on a Ryzen R9 7950X cooled by a Noctua NH-D15 G2 air cooler with AM5 offset mounting bars and see how it affects the temperatures and how all the values change with different settings of the system fans’ performance across their entire operating speed range. The Era 2 case is an evolution of the original model (Era ITX), where Fractal Design also changed the approach to the ventilation holes. Be it in terms of the top panel or the side, larger perforations. How the Era 2 will make its mark and stack up against competing SFF cases remains to be seen.
