Monitors usually offer a very similar and rather unremarkable design in black or grey. Gaming models are trying to break out of this stereotype, with various red elements or RGB lighting. However, the world of professional monitors is virtually black and white, and MSI thought it would bring some colour to this environment, and not a grey one, but an “Ultramarine” one at that. That’s a colour particularly associated with Renaissance artwork.
Conclusion
MSI Modern MD272QP Ultramarine is a unique monitor for the office but also for the home, which will enliven your desk with its unusual blue color. In a sea of black monitors, this is a really nice change.
In addition to the colorful design, the monitor impresses with good connectivity and the ability to connect two devices, where you can use the KVM switch to control with one set of accessories. There’s also a USB-C connector with the ability to charge your laptop. The monitor also boasts excellent positioning options, including portrait mode or side-to-side rotation.
The display tests turned out well, although the manufacturer does not present the monitor as a graphics monitor, but except for the lower brightness I have no significant complaints. In particular, I praise the uniformity and excellent colour deviation.
The overall results are slightly worse than the comparable Philips 27E1N5600HE, but despite the colour “uniqueness”, the Modern is a third cheaper and definitely offers better value for money, especially if you don’t need a camera, which the aforementioned Philips monitor, for example, is equipped with.
