Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC Ice Review: In White

Gigabyte has added new Radeon models to its lineup. That’s good news for anyone tired of all-black components. Alongside the budget-friendly Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC and RX 9070 XT Gaming OC, the company is introducing “Ice” variants that pair a white shroud with gray and silver accents. As long as pricing doesn’t stray far from the standard black versions, they should rank among the best-value white cards on the market.

Cyberpunk 2077, RT Medium, 3840 × 2160 (Silent)

The first set of results comes from the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark with the RT Medium setting at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. It includes eight consecutive benchmark runs. The graph always shows the final run, from which the average value for the warmed-up card is calculated.

In Silent mode, the card is only marginally slower.

Once thermally stabilized, the GPU core clock ranges from 2,700 to 2,848 MHz, averaging 2,756 MHz. The ~4 MHz drop from the higher temperatures is negligible.

The card stays at the 330 W power limit again. The PC’s average power draw is 476.1 W—within normal measurement error compared to 474.9 W in Performance mode.

The average temperatures of both the GPU and memory are only slightly higher, with the GPU peaking at 72 °C and the memory at 98 °C. The hotspot reached 92 °C—a minor difference as well.

Unfortunately, the fan speeds aren’t much lower, and neither is the card’s noise level. At peak, the fans reached 1,770 rpm. However, if you reduce the power limit, there’s still some room to lower the fan speed further.

Ryzen 7 5800X3D will come back to commemorate 10 years of AM4

AMD’s AM4 platform is often praised for its long life and upgradability. But if you have a gaming PC with an AM4 motherboard, your ideal upgrade would be the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V‑Cache, which is long out of production, with many who wanted it having missed the chance to get one which undermines the theoretical upgradability in practice. However, luck may still smile on you—AMD is reportedly considering bringing this CPU back to market. Read more “Ryzen 7 5800X3D will come back to commemorate 10 years of AM4” »

Intel and AMD to increase CPU prices by 10–15 %

Although memory and SSD prices are currently very high, the it wasn’t nearly as bad in the CPU market—Intel just released the new “Plus” refresh CPUs at surprisingly low pricing, and AMD responded with discounts. Unfortunately, rising manufacturing costs driven by demand for AI hardware will likely hit this segment as well. Both Intel and AMD are reportedly preparing CPU price increases, which will make PCs even more expensive. Read more “Intel and AMD to increase CPU prices by 10–15 %” »

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is here: 16‑cores and 2× 3D V‑Cache

Ever since the first 3D V‑Cache processors in 2022, the possibility of a desktop CPU with 16 cores and 3D V‑Cache mounted on both CPU chiplets has been on the table. AMD never made it reality despite many asking for it, until now. Hints such a CPU was coming started pouring in last year though. It didn’t arrive with the gaming 9850X3D model in January, but this week, AMD is finally making this long-awaited CPU real.
