Vapor chamber by Noctua: Premiere to take place in Asus RTX 4080

Just before the end of last year, we wrote about Noctua’s involvement in the development of Asus RTX 4000 graphics card. Now we know for sure that there will be an RTX4080-O16G-Noctua model. While at first glance this card’s cooler will be the same as the last one, it is supposed to be significantly more effective with the implementation of a vapor chamber, which Noctua has never used before, not even with their own CPU coolers. Asus and Noctua are collabing on GeForce RTX 4000 cards as well

Asus graphics cards with Noctua coolers wasn’t just a one-season affair. On the contrary, it seems that this could be a tradition that will now continue in the Ada Lovelace GPU generation. Information is extremely scarce so far, but we did hear something from the ones in charge and some details are clear. However, we can only speculate about most of it until CES 2023, where the official unveiling of these graphics will take place. DLSS 3 and frame generation minitest in MS Flight Simulator

Nvidia DLSS 3 support has been added to Microsoft Flight Simulator in the latest update. This bypasses CPU limits and allows running at triple-digit fps thanks to “frame generation” techniques. Flying is now more comfortable, smoother, although there is one rather significant limitation – you need to own one of the graphics cards with an Ada Lovelace GPU. Older GeForce RTX generations unfortunately don’t support DLSS 3. Read more “DLSS 3 and frame generation minitest in MS Flight Simulator” »

MSI RTX 4080 16GB Suprim X: Ada Lovelace with GPU near 3 GHz

From Olympus back to ordinary mortals. Though the GeForce RTX 4080s are quite a bit weaker than the RTX 4090s, they’re also significantly more power-efficient and cheaper. And their performance still exceeds the top models of previous generations of Nvidia and AMD gaming GPUs. In addition, MSI’s most powerful model – the Suprim X – pushes the GPU clock speeds very high, while efficiency is still top-notch. Tested: 12VHPWR adapter on the RTX 4080 Suprim X won’t melt

The topic of “undersized” 12VHPWR power connectors for GeForce RTX 4090 is very popular lately. However, it will not apply to the more low-power RTX 4080 graphics cards. Before a complete analysis of MSI’s model – Suprim X – we first focused on the temperature of its 16-pin, and it must be said that everything is alright, with a large temperature headroom. Here, in short, the state of the matter will not change. Read more “Tested: 12VHPWR adapter on the RTX 4080 Suprim X won’t melt” »

AMD RDNA 3 details: architecture changes, AI acceleration, DP 2.1

November 3 saw the expected unveiling of a new generation of Radeon graphics cards from AMD with RDNA 3 architecture, a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4000, the already selling new GPU generation from Nvidia. In this article, we’ll discuss the chiplet design of the new 5nm AMD GPUs, the changes in architecture, and the new functionality and features that they bring. RDNA 3 has a lot of new stuff compared to the previous generation. Read more “AMD RDNA 3 details: architecture changes, AI acceleration, DP 2.1” »

600 W via two 12-pins. BeQuiet! has an adapter for RTX 4090

Current ATX (2.x standard) power supplies are quite unprepared, at least for the RTX 4090 graphics card. Connecting it to them is only possible via an adapter, and a rather awkward one – with a big tangle of wires. As an alternative, BeQuiet! has released its solution, the 12VHPWR adapter. In its essence, it is a fork (with two 12-pins) that will work with the upcoming ATX 3.0 power supply standard. Read more “600 W via two 12-pins. BeQuiet! has an adapter for RTX 4090” »

What RTX 4090 lacks: Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada is almost the full AD102

On Tuesday, Nvidia unveiled the first GeForce RTX 4000 GPUs with Ada Lovelace architecture. The fastest RTX 4090 SKU is based on the AD102 chip, but it’s already been confirmed that it’s a stripped-down version with 16,384 shaders, while the full chip has over 18,000 FP32 units. But Nvidia already has a card that has almost all of the units unlocked: the Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada, a GPU aimed at professional graphics and similar markets. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 cards are here: models, parameters, prices

Nvidia had their GTC 2022 keynote scheduled for Tuesday. As expected, company CEO Jen-Hsun Huang finally unveiled new gaming  graphics cards at this presentation alongside various enterprise, AI, and automotive stuff: the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 with the new Ada Lovelace architecture. They’ll come to market in the next two months, however we don’t exactly have good news on the prices Nvidia will charge for them. Intel Arc A770, A750, A580 desktop graphics officially unveiled

The coming of Intel Arc discrete graphics cards was strange – the company tried to keep up the audience excited with constant stream of news, but the efforts were thwarted by the long delays. But the long and slow, gradual trickle of all sorts of news bits is almost over. Finally, Intel has unveiled the gaming graphics cards with their most powerful GPU yet, up to 16 GB of memory and 4096 shaders. So now we’ll see what’s what. Cheap and now even cheaper RTX 3050 – MSI Ventus 2X 8G OC

In addition to the global price drop on all graphics cards, MSI is now also reducing the MSRP of the RTX 3050 Ventus 2X (OC) from its lowest range. The phrase “affordable graphics card” thus takes on a new spin, and if you’ve read somewhere that the performance characteristics of Ventus graphics cards aren’t worth much, forget it. We certainly don’t see it that way, and few RTX 3050s for this money can boast a more functionally attractive design. Read more “Cheap and now even cheaper RTX 3050 – MSI Ventus 2X 8G OC” »

Leaked RDNA 3 GPU details: Has AMD underestimated Nvidia?

Major news has surfaced about AMD’s upcoming RDNA 3 architecture based 5nm GPUs. These chips will form the basis of Radeon RX 7000 generation graphics cards, which will compete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4000 GPUs. Angstronomics has published their specifications as well as chip sizes, which raise doubts whether they can have competitive performance. On the other hand, they could be relatively low-cost. Nvidia changed plans, GeForce RTX 4070 will have faster specs

We have been getting leaked spec bits of the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 cards based on the “Lovelace” architecture for some time. But things still aren’t set in stone yet (or at least not for all models), so things are still subject to change. And that is what has now happened with the GeForce RTX 4070 SKU. Nvidia is said to have changed the specs and give this graphics card higher performance and less cut-down memory. Read more “Nvidia changed plans, GeForce RTX 4070 will have faster specs” »
