Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Gaming OC 8GB: 8 GB Is Tight

The GeForce RTX 5060 and 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti have come under the heaviest fire in Nvidia’s new RTX 50 series. Still, many customers go for them – whether by choice or budget. If you’re among them, pay attention: Gigabyte’s RTX 5060 Gaming OC doesn’t try to impress with lighting effects, but for a small extra cost, it offers excellent performance thanks to a large heatsink allowing unobstructed airflow through half of the card.

Fan behavior, noise level

Fan speeds can be set from 30–100 %. That corresponds to speeds of approximately 1000–3500 RPM, at which our sound meter registered between 29.1–54 dBA. At the lower end, the fans fall below the meter’s measurement range and are nearly inaudible.

At the bottom of the operating range, two small peaks are visible in the chart. These were caused by resonances—either from the impeller or the card’s shroud. They occurred at very low noise levels and were scarcely audible, but noticeable. Pressing the shroud slightly closer to the heatsink eliminated them. It’s likely just a unit-specific issue.

Cyberpunk 2077, RT Medium, 2560 × 1440

For higher‑end GPUs, I test operational characteristics using Cyberpunk 2077 at RT Medium and 3840 × 2160 resolution. For the 8 GB RTX 5060, that setting is too demanding—the card averages just 16 fps. In one run, memory even filled up and frame rate dropped further.

So we instead focus on the lower 2560 × 1440 resolution. I ran eight consecutive benchmark passes. In the chart, you always see the last pass, from which the average for the warmed-up card is calculated.

At this resolution, the chip is under full load and the card runs at its power limit. Even so, the average of 34.5 fps isn’t playable—RT Medium at 2560 × 1440 without DLSS is simply too much for this GPU. You’ll need DLSS even at this resolution.

The clock speeds of the heated chip in the final pass ranged from 2 715 to 2 655 MHz, averaging 2 684 MHz.

The light‑green line shows the card’s power consumption is at the 155 W power limit.

Chip temperature peaks at around 65.0 °C in the final pass, according to the sensors. The memory hovers mostly at 68 °C, occasionally peaking at 70 °C. The new GeForce cards do not report hotspot temperatures.

These modest temperatures come at the cost of higher noise in the Performance BIOS—fans reach 1756 RPM at peak, resulting in around 33.9 dBA.

Monitoring shows that boost is limited by chip voltage.

Cyberpunk 2077, RT Medium, 3840 × 2160 (P mode)

For high-performance graphics cards, I use Cyberpunk 2077 with RT Medium settings at a resolution of 3840 × 2160 to test operating characteristics. This involves running the benchmark loop eight times in succession.

The graph shows that with only 8 GB of memory, Cyberpunk sometimes behaves erratically at these settings—during the first run, the frame rate dropped to single-digit fps. In the subsequent runs, it stabilized around 12.8 fps. Even with more memory, however, the game wouldn’t be playable on the RTX 5060 under these conditions.

In the final run of the test, the GPU clock speeds ranged from 2700 to 2782 MHz, averaging around 2750 MHz.

At lower resolutions, the card remained at its power limit, but in the 4K graph, it’s clear that the game stutters and the chip isn’t fully utilized.

According to on-chip sensors, peak temperatures during the last run were around 65.9 °C. Memory temperatures mostly hovered between 66 and 68 °C.

Temperatures and fan speeds remained consistent.

Paradoxically, the card appeared to hit its power limit more often than it did at 2560 × 1440, where it consistently ran at that threshold.
